Leonardo Royal Hotel Oxford

We booked The Leonardo Royal because of its location… walking distance to the pub in Wolvercote, where we had a family gathering. Having stayed in the Leonardo Brighton waterfront hotel we were expecting a similar standard, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case. Our superior room provided a king size bed which was fine but the bathroom was absolutely tiny, with a shower over the bath which was extremely tricky and slightly hazardous to use. The a/c was totally non functioning and the fan provided did nothing to cool the room, especially as the windows only opened a few inches. The paintwork on the window was dirty and peeling and the curtains were tatty and poorly fitting. Were it not for the location we have preferred to stay in a premier Inn at much less cost and would not return if visiting Oxford. 3 stars are for a reasonable breakfast and comfortable bed!

The hotel was very nice staff friendly and helpful. The one complaint would be , we are a group of 3 but the room only had 2 mugs 2 towels etc had to ask for more then the next day had to explain again and wait for more to be brought. If the room is a triple I expect the room to be set for 3 not 3

Unexpected parking charges on arrival. Bed so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. Room was next to a noisy building site that I was not made aware of before check in.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world—including in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia—and I regret to say that this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The problems began at check-in. The front desk staff member who assisted us—a woman with a European accent, possibly Russian—was unhelpful, dismissive, and showed no understanding of basic customer service. She seemed completely unsuited to working in hospitality. The facilities were also far below standard: The bathroom was extremely cramped—barely large enough to move around in. There are no elevators, forcing me to carry two heavy suitcases up the stairs to my room. The carpets were visibly dirty and poorly maintained. Towels were oddly placed on stairway landings, which looked both unhygienic and unsightly. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty, and despite four separate calls to reception—from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM—it was only refilled late in the day. Even worse, my room was not cleaned despite multiple reminders. Again, it took four calls over several hours before anyone finally showed up. The hotel's location only added to the frustration. It is situated about 3 to 4 miles from the Oxford city center, and feels isolated—like it’s in the middle of nowhere. There are no nearby restaurants or amenities within walking distance, making it inconvenient for visitors without a car. In sum, the level of service, cleanliness, and convenience at this hotel was shockingly poor. Management should urgently address both the unprofessional staff and the deteriorating condition of the facilities. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere when visiting Oxford.

The Leonardo Royal Oxford is a large complex which seems to cater for conferences and corporate clients. Prices are highly variable for this hotel. Only stayed one night as the price was double for the next night. Booked a Superior room with a king bed. The modern room had a king bed, desk, table, chair, TV, fridge and large safe as well as a coffee maker (but no milk). The small bathroom had a walk-in shower. The plug on the basin was broken and fallen down the waste. It could only be extricated with great difficulty. The shower spray was damaged and couldn't be adjusted. The view from the narrow window was of the bins and service area. Paid extra for breakfast which wasn't worth it. The range of fresh fruit and pastries was limited. Most food was processed and coffee came from a machine. Hotel is too far to walk to central Oxford. Need to take the bus or order an Uber. Self-parking at the hotel. The booking was with Expedia included free VIP self-parking. However an automatic charge of £6 was made for 24h parking.

Comfortable bed, clean room, clean bathroom, quiet and spacious

Food is restaurant was just okay...not great. Coffee shop was really good.

The dining in the hotel was convenient and good. Breakfast was very repetitive.
