Absolutely beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The room was so comfortable, clean and peaceful. All staff were very helpful.

De matrassen waren te zacht voor ons maar zal voor anderen helemaal goed zijn. De badkamer kan wel een upgrade gebruiken maar functioneert nog prima.

Location is great. Hotel grounds are nice. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Rooms are a little dated. TV is basic (not a smart TV so no Netflix or YouTube). Breakfast service starts at 7am. This is a little late if you need to get on the road as a business traveller.

We have visited The Moat Hotel Acton Trussell on many occasions. The team led by Vanessa are always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The main reason for this review is to acknowledge the presentation and quality of food. First Class, couldn't fault anything. Food served on hot plates as it should be. Presentation as good as any 5 Star. Highly recommended

I booked a superior room for 2 nights with my wife. We arrived about 2.30pm and the room wasn’t ready. There was some confusion from the front desk about our dinner reservation, the receptionist stated I didn’t have a booking and despite my assertions she didn’t really seem to believe that I had booked it months ago. She said it wasn’t recorded. She only relented when I showed her their messages to me confirming the booking. Awaiting the room we went to the bar. The staff in the bar were lovely and it was well priced for a hotel, the actual bar was a little cold. When we got into the room, I can’t say it was ‘superior’. It was a little small, cold and not well lit. There was no safe nor minibar/fridge something I would have expected for £162 per night. When I raised this at reception it wasn’t well received, although the lady was friendly and polite and they did put a heater in the room. Evening meal was lovely and again the staff in the bar, where we ate, were lovely and provided a great service. Breakfast on the first morning was a buffet affair and in the main was well cooked. On the second morning breakfast wasn’t as good, my wife had Eggs Benedict but the poached eggs were hard (as were mine) and the Hollandaise sauce was split, we never got the requested toast- poor show chef! The actual grounds at the hotel were beautiful and lovely to walk around the lake and close by canal. A nice hotel but not as good as I expected.

Just returned from our third stay at the very welcoming Moat House. Lovely, peaceful spot, surprisingly just a stone's throw from the M6 though you'd never believe it. All the staff are super friendly (especially if you have a dog with you!), our room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Great choice at breakfast and if it's a buffet day they are still happy to cook something from the normal menu. Dinner menu also offers a great choice, grill night on Tuesdays (2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £50, great value) chicken supreme and steak and ale suet pudding also highly recommended. Good to book ahead because they seemed busy, even midweek. Lots of great canal walks either direct from the hotel or a short drive away and NT Shugborough Hall about a 15 minute drive. Always enjoy our stay here and already booked for next year.
