"Good"

6.0

The hotel location was really good and close to sea point. The room was ok for sleeping only. A/C wasn't so great and TV as well. Bathroom was fine but so small. The most terrible thing I faced that I gave laundry to the hotel and laundry was being done by outside laundry shop and they gave me back my T-Shirts that worth around $300 washed out and promised to resolve the problem and ship it to me and nothing happened.

"A getaway to forget"

2.0

We were first booked into a dirty room. We then had to sit in reception for 10 minutes before we were finally allocated a clean room. We wanted to book supper at the resturant on the 21st floor only to be told that it was fully booked. We then had to settle for ordering room service. Our food only came after and hour when we were told 15 to 20 min. The food was cold the chips were cooked in hot oil making the chips not a pleasent experience to eat. The burger was what i would expect to buy in a cheap one man stall in Cape Town. My wife's calamari was cold on there was no tarter sauce. We complianed and new food was brought to us. It was slightly better quality as the first food but still very sub standard and still no tarter sauce. At least the hotel did not charge us for the meal which i appreciated. The bed was comfy. The television was old and not easy to watch( slight blur effect). We were under the impression from the web site that there would be a hair dryer in the room. There was none. The next morning my wife was very conscience of her hair when we left the room. I belive there are upgrades happening in the near future. I will rather wait until the upgrades are completed before i will consider visiting this hotel again.

"The only good thing was the view"

2.0

I thought by staying at "The Ritz" I would be in for a weekend of luxury. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Issues: The hotel would not give a cash advance to the driver, so I had to go down the street to the 7-11 to pay for the cab. The hallways stink like wet laundry, the rooms are dirty, carpets are stained and the TV had only 4 channels that worked (all rugby). The worst part was that you had to pay outrageous prices for wifi or go down to the lobby for 30 free minutes every 24 hours. Good news: The bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly and the view was nice.

"Terrible!"

This hotel needs a serious upgrade! Very old! And brokend. It's unfortunate cause the view is excellent and the rooms are large but it's just old and dirty. Needs a serious upgrade.

"Nice hotel located close to the seafront."

6.0

This location at Sea Point was perfect for us. It took just 30 minutes to walk to the V&A waterfront from the Ritz hotel. In 2010 new buses were introduced to Cape town's coastal routes which will take you wherever you want to travel safely and cheaply so no need to hire taxi's. The revolving rooftop restaurant of the Ritz hotel is excellent, serving good food at reasonable prices and offering fantastic views over Cape Town. We found both shopping and eating to be much less expensive at Sea Point than the more costly waterfront area and there are a good array of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from in this area. We found car hire to be inexpensive and a great way to see some of the beautiful bays, beaches and wildlife that South Africa has to offer.

"Good"

6.0

The location of the hotel is perfect for what I wanted to be close to. On arrival I was told it was overbooked. I explained that I wasn't going to be relocated to downtown. After waiting for a while was given a terrible room that looked more like a youth hostel. We went back to reception and complained the staff were nice and quickly gave us a better room. The room was pleasant, we had a view of the ocean which was great. The temperature of the room was always too hot and the air conditioning was very poor and never really cooled it down to a comfortable level. Breakfast buffet was good. The Ritz has been around for a while and it looks like it. It is pretty run down in places. My experience wasn't too bad but I would not go back.

"Stay at Ritz,Cape Town"

4.0

The Ritz in Cape town is a very old and out-dated property. The hotel's AC was practically non-functional and we barely got any sleep on the nights when temperatures were soaring. It was terribly warm inspite of leaving the windows open. The hotel staff were well aware of this problem but pretended to get the room AC serviced and cleant. They later explained to us that because of the heat, the air conditioning was not capable of cooling the whole property. They need to invest in refurbishing and maintaining this property instead of putting the guests through so much discomfort.
