Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable if dated room. Great location, particularly for castle and gardens which are close enough to walk to. Breakfast good except for turnover of hot food, as quite dry under under heat lamps.

Had lovely special coffee one evening, however next night nobody available who could make. Bathroom needs updating, hate shower curtains! Room 5.

There was a problem with the door knob to our room which was very difficult to lock.

Visiting here has been on my husband's bucket list for a long time, as he is a massive Titanic geek! We stayed one night in the Alnwick Suite which was amazing, and included dinner, bed, and breakfast. You cannot fault the value for money. We also liked that check in was 2pm and check out was 11am - we made the most of both! The room was an excellent size, very comfortable, and nicely furnished. Only slight criticism is that a couple of fixtures in the bathroom were a bit dated (handle in bath was loose, as was too of one of the taps). Otherwise, all was good! The Olympic Dining room is stunning! You really feel like you could be back on the ship. Hubby loved all the pictures and models around the walls in the hallways too. He was equally pleased that reception gave him some printed information on the Olympic too, and how the panels etc were salvaged to the hotel (although he pretty much knew it all anyway). I was worried about food in advance because I had read lots of reviews on here that weren't always favourable, and I also struggled to find any menus to give an idea of what the food might be. I am quite fussy so this was a concern. In the end, neither was an issue for us. There was plenty of choice for me on the menu and food was all really good, good portion sizes, and arrived quickly. I had Pate, fish pie, and fruit salad, and hubby had prawns, pork loin (he ended up with 2!), and cheesecake. Can't fault any of it. Equally, breakfast was very good, lots of continental options plus the full English too. The only slight downer on the evening was that we were seated in the wrong place. When we arrived, the Manager clearly I only had 2 couples left to arrive. He took a guess at which couple we were and got it wrong. We corrected him, but he still marked the wrong name off the list. We didn't query it at the time as didn't realise the difference it would make. We were seated quickly and the final couple arrived and were seated in the corner seat in the alcove. It turns out we had the wrong menu on our table - a 2-course one instead of a 3 course one. The waiter said we had been seated at the wrong table and to ignore this. It later turned out that the couple in the alcove had ordered 3 courses when they only were meant to have 2, and the waiter in the end decided to let them off this as it was his mistake. I wouldn't have minded too much, although I am sure the view would have been better than the fire door I had, but my hubby was quite sad we didn't have the 'special' seat. When we came down to breakfast, the alcove seat was empty so we asked to be seated there, and they swapped things around so we could, so all was well in the end.

Room was small but very well decorated, clean and with a great view of the castle. Overall very happy with the room. Breakfast was excellent and used quality ingredient's. Great ,location for all the local attractions including the castle, the market place and the Gardens,

Had to go home !
