Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort

I stayed at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar recently with a colleague, and while the resort has a lot of potential, my experience was tainted by a very rocky start regarding room readiness and hygiene. The Pros: • The Pools: Very well-maintained and it was easy to find lounge chairs throughout the day. • The Staff: While the initial check-in was indifferent, certain team members were exceptional. Victoria at the front desk, Ricky in concierge, and Mary at the bar were all standouts. • The Grounds: The property is very pretty and well-suited for families or large conferences. The Cons: • Housekeeping: Outside of our room, we found used glasses from a previous guest. Upon inspecting the beds, it was clear my linens hadn't been changed (visible stains/lint/hair). It was disappointing that it took multiple follow-ups to get this addressed, and a follow-up from management would have been appreciated given the severity of the issue. • Maintenance: Some areas feel a bit worn, including graffiti etched into the balcony paneling that needs a fresh coat of paint. • Dining: Service was quite slow, suggesting they may be understaffed. We found it much better to eat off-site for dinner. Verdict: A nice property for a business event, but if you value high-touch service and meticulous room preparation, you may find the experience inconsistent.

The Staff at this resort are top notch! Beautiful grounds and pools and very nice beach! Not too far from the water taxi marina if you're going to Icacos island. About a 35 minute drive to the Ferry to Culebra. Both Icacos and Culebra are a must, so beautiful. The resort food not good for a resort of this caliber and very pricey. We booked with Amex and we're supposed to get a room upgrade and late checkout to 4:00, neither were given. Joanne our waitress in the breakfast buffet was the best!

Great resort that checks all boxes. A short drive to the rainforest, beachfront, great pool, great casino, and great food. A wonderful time!

Worth the money exceptional

Pros: Excellent access to the beach, staff were extremely responsive to all our requests including an early check-in abs late check-out even though the hotel was fully booked, and the rooms were in very good shape. The iguana feedings hosted by Bianca by the nature reserve were especially fun for the kids. Love that the iguanas have names! Tito was our favorite. Cons: the walls are a little thin - we could hear our neighbors clearly. But the pros outweigh the costs.

If there had to be something it would be that the Gym was a bit grubby

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The beachside and pool area were highlights—clean, fun, and perfect for relaxing or spending time with family. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it easy to unwind. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety and high-quality options each morning. We also had a fantastic experience at the Root Restaurant. The service was outstanding, especially thanks to Joanne and Alejandro Voildes , who truly made our dining experience memorable. Overall, a great stay—we would definitely return.

Great location, relaxed atmosphere, we stayed in one the upgraded room, beautiful and spacious, property is well maintained! Breakfast at roots coastal kitchen was amazing and Juan Pablo was incredibly attentive and helpful!
