The Chester Grosvenor

Great location. Friendly attentive staff. Proper breakfast service, non of this help yourself buffet style. Room and facilities good.

When you went to the bar, particularly pre dinner drinks there are no peanuts/ crisps olives offered. Premium priced drinks in many superior hotels will provide these extra touches. First timers to The Grosvenor Chester like myself, should be told in detail regarding the parking. It did not say the Hotel had its own parking but it also did not say the parking was in a multi-storey public car park adjacent to it. £18 for night parking to stay in the hotel may not be the most expensive in Chester, but it will certainly make me consider elsewhere now.

Location, spacious room and good breakfast.

Bathroom with over bathtub shower was a little dated and the head was not adjustable. Some of the staff were very friendly, but a few were less enthused and some requests not understood or forgotten about.

The hotel stay was ok, reception staff attentive and room clean

I booked a Spa day alongside the hotel staff which was absolutely diabolical, the reception staff rude, wasn’t shown around, had to ask what the “thermal spa” experience included was told just the steam room and sauna - steam room wasn’t even on, the experience is described as so much more on their website - emailed to complain once home, as it was my husbands 50th birthday so didn’t want to spoil his day complaining on the day - didn’t receive a response, no apology, nothing. For the price I paid for both the hotel and spa I would expect top level customer service - I am not surprised this hotel is due to close in September!
