Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Defiance by IHG

I checked in very late and was met by a very friendly front desk employee. The same happened as I checked out early the next morning. She offered me a sack breakfast which truly was appreciated!

We were disappointed that there was no breakfast. The area was being renovated and was closed. Coffee in room was just ok.staff was very efficient and friendly.

Had a standard room but it smelled like someone had smoked in there. I suffer from asthma & we do not smoke so I was quick to notice that.

We have stayed at this Hotel often at least 2 to 4 times a year. Always friendly. They know me by name when I walk in there door. Comforting feeling yet business like, this hotel has ongoing remodeling the rooms are all finished and the beds are extremely comfortable and it is quiet. Jesscia always greats with a smile and she always has a very positive attitude she works the front desk and other small town feel is great!

Last minute I booked a room for two nights to attend a funeral. I looked on both the website and Expedia to make sure that the hotel had a pool and breakfast for my kids. When we got there the pool area was under construction, with a sign at the front desk saying sorry for the inconvenience, kinda wished that was disclosed online since that was the sole reason for my stay there, but you know it’s whatever. The next morning we had breakfast at 8, it was poor of quality as it was not freshly rotated out with new food yet and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot; this is relevant due to the fact that my room cost was $160 for that night and the hotel without a pool, but that did include breakfast, down the street was only $85 a night. The second night was not better, as my room cost increased to $170 but the car influx only increased by 4, it was on this day that I noticed that their designated smoking area was directly beside the gas main for the hotel. I also discovered this day, that the elevator has a slight lurch that maybe unsettling to some. Overall the rooms were clean and no signs of bed bugs, but the beds were uncomfortable and I’d recommend bringing your own pillows. Probably will not be returning to another holiday inn or their affiliates.

Our room was 317 and there was a large air compressor that cycled all night waking us up. It didn’t run through the day. Not sure why it had to run overnight.
