Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Defiance by IHG

Terrible. Awoke to loud construction - first furniture being moved then roof replacement right above my room and outside my window. Awoke to a spider web right in my face. Brushed it away. Woke up later with spider bites on my left arm and fingers.

Nice Hotel, looks like recently refreshed.

The room was clean at check-in , but wasn't cleaned during our stay and no clean towels. We only stayed 2 nights or this would have been a bigger issue. When we arrived no one was at the front desk , so after about 5 mins I called the hotel and someone showed up to answer the phone , apologized and checked us in. There is some work being done to the outside, but it was quite , no issues there.

Clean new room which was recently remodeled.

They need to get a better grip on the construction going on. I woke one night coughing due to the fumes from some product being used, I had to open my window & place a towel under the door. The coffee is bitter & weak, at the hour I left every morning there were no other options. They need to provide lotion. Slapping a new coat of paint is not renovation. Staff so-so.

We stopped in last minute while on the road for a business trip. The front desk was very helpful, but she had to call her manager multiple times because their system wasn't working correctly and they were having challenges finding instructions in their manuals. We had to wait awhile until we could actually get our rooms. Room was big, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was disappointing. They had little options and their pancake machine wasn't working. The stay met our needs, but it was just average.

The breakfast had a broken pancake machine. And some of the omelets had been in the warmer for quite a while also most of the oatmeal was not made properly but also understaffed so it would be very difficult for the person taking care of the kitchen to do that and work the front desk

It would have been nice to have a television guide available on the TV itself.
