Queens Hotel Cheltenham

Location Comfortable beds Hotel exterior and interior(apart from bedroom) was beautiful example of period decor. Breakfast was very nice Staff were friendly and helpful

Only one seat in the room Bedroom decor was a little shabby, but it is an older hotel. Extractor fan did not work in the bathroom

Having stayed a lot, the shower and water pressure is very poor. Some rooms are noisy because of the hotel across the road

Overall we enjoyed our stay here and the location was great, but given it wasn’t the cheapest hotel we could have booked I was surprised by how condescending some of the hotel desk staff could be. When we arrived early (~11ish) the woman working check-in curtly responded that check-in wasn’t until 3 PM. That’s fine and I understand if there are no rooms available, but I don’t think I’ve ever had someone respond as if they wondered what I could possibly think I was doing arriving early without even bothering to check if a room was available. We also had luggage with us, which she didn’t offer to hold, so we had to explicitly ask. When we checked in later, I was surprised they checked us in without verifying identity — I had asked my husband to get our bags while I ran to the bathroom as he had the ticket, but to my surprise he had fully checked us in by the time I returned even though the room was in my name, our last names are different and I had my ID on me. The room we got was extremely hot and I wasn’t sure if it was because of a faulty AC unit or poor AC throughout the hotel. When I called the woman I spoke to she was dismissive, but said she’d send someone when I insisted that yes, the AC was on and yes, it was on the lowest temperature. Service didn’t elevate until I went downstairs and told them I wanted to speak to a manager and receive a refund so we could move hotels. At that point they finally moved us and thankfully the AC in our new room worked great. They also offered us a drink voucher and even called after to confirm we were happy with the new room. After that everything was great. The location was perfect and the room was a good size.

Great location and big car park, staff friendly and efficient. Lovely room with very welcome air conditioning, bathroom very clean and fluffy towels.
