The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta

This review is meant to compliment both the resort and its staff. It is my pleasure to provide staff names that should be recognized by The Westin Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - for they are the individuals who have direct contact with the guests and leave a lasting impression! Upon arrival (along with family and/or friends sometimes) I am warmly greeted by my name by the bellboys - Pedro, Carlos, Ricardo and others whose names escape me now! Moments later at the Main Desk at Check-In, I am again greeted by my name by Hugo, the Front Desk Manager. After the greeting, I am turned over to his desk staff: Karen, Carlos aka "Carlito", Fabian & Aleida. Hugo is lucky to have that awesome foursome - a team that works very well together! The fact that they double as concierge is just a bonus. One concierge worth mentioning is Annapaula, who responds to my requests in a very timely and polite manner! Housekeeping is Margarita, an employee who cares for my hotel room as if it was located in her own home. She does such a fantastic job that I feel comfortable walking barefooted on the floors ... and I do. The room is not only cleaned extremely well, but the bed is made so tightly, that I feel so snug and comfortable at bedtime. Upon exiting, she leaves the room smelling refreshed and inviting. She is due to be a manager! At poolside is Okemy at the towel station and he doubles as an activity director with his great personality. All the poolside servers work extremely hard, but I have had the pleasure to be served by Angel and Reina Isobel, who both ensure my cocktails are prepared to my liking. They work fast, with professionalism and with smiles ... just watching them move all day long in the hot sun makes me tired. They also have great personalities and aim to please the guests at all times. It is a difficult job and they manage it with ease. At the breakfast buffet, I have had the pleasure to be served numerous times by Israel .. what an endearing and funny personality on him. If you need a supervisor - he is your man! Other servers are Juan Pena, Carlos and Marco. Your coffee cup is never empty! Two more individuals at breakfast who need mentioning are Chef Matias, who is clearly visible to chat with guests and even takes food requests. Another phenomenal employee is Lily, who most often is at the omelet station. I am so impressed that she remembers the contents of my omelet every morning .. she is a true treasure. Walking around the grounds is Patricia, who ensures quality in her staff and chats with guests from time to time with her warm personality.

I didn’t try the food. I love how is closed to restaurants, stores and beach.

I wish the beds were bigger. I’ve stayed at this location 5years ago and I remember them having king size beds. The beds felt like full size not queen size.

Location was wonderful

Property is very, very dated. Our room has not been updated in what seems to be 25 years. It is dangerous with a step into the room, a step into the bathroom, a step onto the balcony - a fell at least twice in 4 days because of that issue. I will not return as the property is not up to Westin standards. When I went to complain and asked to speak to a manager, I was told that he was not yet on duty- a standard reply, obviously.

I am not sure why the reviews are good for this place. This place is not worth the price , it’s super run down old property. Gives 3 stars or below property wibe. They mentioned that the rooms were renovated 3 years ago. I must say that they did pretty terrible job at it and cut lot of corners. Was it ever inspected even after the renovation??? The one star is only for the friendly staff ( other than the check-in staff). The check-in staff didn’t really care much about the Marriott titanium status. Half of the restaurants are closed. The ones which are open feel like restaurants in an old mall rather than at a beach front resort. The concierge service was ok.. our questions were answered but didn’t seem like there was an attempt to go an extra mile. Overall, I do not recommend this resort at all.

We had a pretty bad experience at this hotel. The building seemed to be in a state of disrepair; there were water leaks in the hallways, bad caulking everywhere (there was a hole in the corner of our shower), it took several minutes to get hot water in the shower, there were exposed wires where a light should have been on the balcony. There was also construction going on, and in an establishment called the Westin Resort and Spa, the spa was out of order. Further, the food was overpriced for its quality, and there was a Japanese restaurant which didn't serve sake. The front desk didn't reliably answer phone calls. This isn't really a problem with the hotel, but it's located a 30 minuted trafficy drive from Puerto Vallarta. The staff was all lovely though! Also the view was great and I really appreciated the Nespresso machine

Is perfect to rest, to forget the daily routine.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. It is extremely run-down, and there is construction going on constantly. It is far, far too expensive for the present state it's in. There were issues with hot water, visible water leaking around the property, and half the services shut down. It is not accessible to any place that you'd like to visit, so you've got to take a taxi to get anywhere. That means that you're frequently left with the overpriced, mediocre restaurants on-site. Overall, one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've ever had.

El hotel en general nos gustó mucho El personal, todo excelente y magnífico. Las vistas preciosas El gym muy bueno El bufet del desayuno muy bien atendido y en general bueno con algunas cosas mejorables

Hubo detalles de la limpieza diaria un poco deficiente, no recogidas de papeleras, se cayó un café en la terraza y nunca lo limpiaron. Nunca limpiaron el desagüe del lavabo que despedía olor aunque el señor de mantenimiento me dijo que lo harían al día siguiente

The rooms were clean and spacious, everybody at the hotel was courteous and helpful, with the exception of the girl in charge of kids’ activities. The pool and beach area are kept in good form, as a whole it’s a very mellow environment with background music at a low volume.

As a parent I always look for a hotel that has a Kids club and activities for my 5-year-old, so don’t be fooled when you arrive to know that is “OFF” on Fridays and Saturdays. We also went on Sunday for their activity at 10 am only to find the place empty, dirty, unkept, with broken pieces and overall, not inviting at all. After some prodding to the Front Desk, they said that the “girl” was at the towel hut, then I went to the hut and a very patronizing and unwelcoming girl told me that the activity had to be booked beforehand and also tried to “show me what a reservation is”; mind you this was at 11:10, she was wrapping some presents and I had my daughter looking very sad, something in this situation could be done but she didn’t care. I talked to other parents and their experience had been pretty much the same, shocked that a Kids club would be in that state and functioning so. (Attaching photos for reference) Food was overpriced and nothing stood out. Tried to eat at kids’ pool area and an Iguana very aggressively jumped where I was sitting and started to eat the food and we were served 5 minutes before. My recommendation? Go to restaurants nearby and/or order take out.

Good location. Close to Airport. Nice beach. Comfy bed.

My data was stolen at this hotel. They ran up huge bills on my booking acct. Booking was no help in solving this problem. I will not use booking in the future.
