Hôtels Gouverneur Montréal - Île Charron

We booked 2 rooms at this property. One of the rooms was in an unacceptable condition - terribly stained carpets, no scones on the walls - just light bulbs, shower was terrible in terms of trying to operate it and water pressure, the toilet did not flush properly. The second room was in a slightly better condition but also very outdated. Overall the rooms were fairly clean but there is not much staff can do with property which is about a decade behind on being updated. Location would be fairly convenient if you do not mind driving 20-25 min from downtown area; however, the bridge and ramps were under construction and traffic was quite bad. I also read other reviews once I was already in the hotel about people couldn't access the hotel at all, so I guess we are lucky we were at least able to get into the hotel. Staff was nice but not much you can do with a property in such bad condition. There is nothing nearby if you need a store or food.

The property is old and it is the only business in the island. If you need to get food in the middle of the night, you have to drive out of the island to the next town/city. I think it is for the national park. However, if you are kot really picky and in a budget, it’s a good option because it is close to montreal and other nice places in the montreal area. They have good breakfast and the staff are nice. I would stay again, i’ll just bring some food me just in case.

Very friendly and helpful staff, fixed toilet issue right away and gave us extra shampoo/conditioner, the location is unique, on an island, just off highway, but very short driving distance to lots restaurants and shopping, also back to a national park, quiet and good air, setting and equipment are a bit dated, but function fine, more spacious room compared budge hotels at the same price range, so more bang for your bucks

Staff and property were good. Provided various breakfast combination options, made to order, that were pretty nice. Only big negative about this property was that the only way to access the hotel is a highway that is completely under construction. Traffic makes getting back from north a 45 minutes in traffic and re routing rather than a 12 minute trip. Coming from south is better, as only a 10 minute traffic delay. Without this inconvenience, would have rated it higher.

This is an older hotel, but it was very clean. And to my pleasant surprise everyone including the wait staff at breakfast spoke English.
