Hacienda Temozon Sur

Hacienda is beautiful. It is grandiose, and relaxing. You will hear the birds chirping as you eat your quiet breakfast overlooking the large pool, and feel serene. Food in the restaurant was great - the servers were very kind and always aiming to please. I had overlooked the negative reviews when we booked thinking people were just being picky, but now that we went feel it’s worth stating that there really isn’t much to do here. We did 2 days, one of which we mostly spent at Chichen Itza (2 hours+ driving each way) and that was plenty. Other than that, there’s a pool, and a massage (not a full spa), or you can go for a walk on a poorly kept trail. The hacienda could use a little love to maintain the grounds a bit better. Theres a beaten down tennis court that isn’t usable, the walking trails need some work, the spa could offer some actual facilities, and the pool finish needs a face lift. Lastly - we did the presidential suite which was beautiful. But, the loud bird sqwaking throughout the night on that side of the hotel made it difficult to sleep. The beds are so comfy but we barely slept from the noise. The shower was also WAY too hard on pressure. Neither of us took a comfortable basic shower here. Impossible without feeling like you’re being hit by a paintball gun in sensitive areas while you’re trying to soap up! The private pool was also very unkept and cold (and almost dangerous with the rocks and stairs you have to take to get there) and we preferred the larger pool. This is the perfect place for someone who’s trying to find a quiet place to write a book, or read, or get work done, or simply be contemplative. However, if you can’t do that for more than a certain # of days without going nuts, then plan your stay accordingly. Two days here and moving to downtown Merida for the rest of our week was the perfect balance for us.

A beautiful Hacienda located in the middle of nowhere. Staff mainly from local people, very friendly. Very clean however the property needs some maintenance. The Restaurant is wonderful with a very nice view to the garden and pool. A lot of things to do close to the property but you need a car or hire a taxi driver for the day because nearby attractions are at least 30 minutes driving.

Great place to visit. Remote, relaxing, and staff is friendly, and full of smiles. The property is clean, and well kept. Visit the straw factory on property to take you back 300 years. Very peaceful and relaxing. We will be going back. Restaurant has great food also. With Yucatan ingredients.

Restaurant and breakfast were perfects. With nice view on the garden and the swimming pool Location very calm. It is a place full of serenity. The room was really big with all things. Staff very nice and helpful (babybed)

the service at the pool is too slow and the swimming pool could be cleaned more often (lots of leaves) It is pity that the cenote was closed

Our room was fabulous, the grounds were gorgeous, the pool was brilliant and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We all had spa treatments which were pleasant but overpriced.

The spa treatments were overpriced and there was a lot of waiting around to check in, check out, and get into the spa. We actually had to alter our intended spa treatments because the therapists were nowhere to be found at the scheduled time.

Overall, the property is very beautiful and we liked that it's a bit remote (which is important to know for your stay...it's about an hour drive to Merida). The pool was beautiful and the breakfast was very nice.

On our final night, we were woken up around midnight by a loud noise outside of our room. My husband went to see what it was and they were power washing outside of our room. I have no idea why they needed to do this in the middle of the night, especially at a five-star property and directly outside of guests' rooms. When it hadn't stopped by 12:30, we called the front desk and were told it would be 10 more minutes. When it didn't stop after 10 minutes, we called and were told it would be 20 more minutes. The woman at the desk was totally unconcerned and didn't apologize for the work being done. It finally stopped after 1:00 am. We had to wake up at 5:30 to drive back to Cancun (nearly 5 hours) and we were both exhausted when we finally woke up. I reported this to management and received an email saying they were sorry, but nothing further was done to make up for the disturbance, nor did they explain why they would do this so late at night. We were left with a bad taste in our mouths and will not return to the hotel. There was also a scorpion in our room one morning when we returned from breakfast. I understand you are in the countryside and this can happen, but guests should be on the lookout.
