Hotel Dnipro

BEST: Location Location Location, of course. Breakfast buffet and service - especially for early morning needs. The whole scene was delightful to me (vs my friend who booked there also & tho't it too "old Soviet" - to me that was part of the charm.) Disappointment:· Expected a SWIMMING pool per the website. Disappointed that the pool was designed only for sauna experience, i.e., too cold and small for swimming, which is what I was hoping for. Note Full Disclosure.for swimmers!

If you have reasonable expectations you won't be disappointed. You'll choose this hotel for its price and location. We all do it! don't expect luxury. This is a soviet style budget hotel. Its clean, well maintained. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. There is an included breakfast buffet. Its average food with average choices. Its enough to start the day. There was no air conditioner in the room - I asked for a fan. it was quite hot. The bed was not a double bed as requested, instead, 2 single beds pushed together. Make sure you are clear if you want to book a "double bed", that you actually get one, double bed and not 2 single beds pushed together. Next time I just booked a single. The Main Street is out the front door. The hotel has a nice local restaurant off the lobby. There is a pub and a strip joint as well. Occasionally, you'll find women sitting in the lobby waiting for "company". I must say, they look hot. My idea of "room service". Taxis can come right to the front door. You are near a main park in the city. The underground metro is 10 minute walk - great location. Friendly staff.

Bed was uncomfortable. Very thin mattress. Everything else was good.

I liked the beautiful historic nature of the building, the excellent breakfast buffet, the prime location. It felt comfortable and like home. My next trip to Kiev in 4 months, and I will be staying at the Dnipro again.

I didnt like the idea of seeing spider outside the window ... No iron and very weak hairdryer ... the good things are the location which is in the heart of the city and the breakfast is just amazing alot of variety of food .. overall not bad but u can find better with this price

Staff was great. Centrally located. Nice building; a lot to offer, including gym, and sauna. The room was cleaned every day, however, there was a problem with ants in parts of the room. I would ask that the Managers find an appropriate time over the Winter to address the problem. Maybe new carpets would make this Hotel even more desirable.

Briefly, the hotel is OK, but with some negatives. Reading the previous messages that clients had bad room, make me think that every room has its different problems and it's luck to gave a good one. Ours was good, but water comes brown initially (making water in bath a bit murky) and tel not working. Beds cosy. First day our room was not cleaned. I don't complain about reception and breakfast, live piano playing at breakfast was cool. What annoyed me was the hotels gentleman club which advertised a 50% for a private dance between 9pm and 11pm and when asked for one at 1030, girl lied that there is someone in room so then our dance will be at 11 and pay full price. Lied because obviously no one was in the room, there was us and two other clients. I asked the girl in charge why, she said management decision. WTH? Localation excellent. O

I give this Soviet-style hotel 1-star due to its location, which is excellent, and the piano player at breakfast who was cool ! I booked 12 nights on Booking.com for a business trip for what was my first visit to Kiev and Ukraine. In no particular order....when I requested a taxi pick-up on my arrival at the airport the Hotel declined stating that it was a bank holiday ! They gave me a Ukraine taxi weblink which had no English option. The Hotel features on its webpage a spa with luxurious blue pool and this was a purchase factor for me. On arrival I find that the Spa is not functioning with no access to the pool. My room was like a student dorm from a run-down College, with a leaking shower and flooded floor - the Hotel were indifferent when I reported this. The bed was Ok and the air conditioner worked to a fashion. Breakfast was included but notwithstanding the piano player I gave up after 5 days as the fare was so dreary, the fruit not fresh, the coffee cold and the rotating toasting machine not working - with nobody bothered about fixing it. Service was poor. The laundry service was expensive and payment was via the cleaning lady rather than the hotel which I found odd. I suppose I should have guessed that a hotel that supplies condoms in the mini-bar (for a price) would be complicit in supporting diversified nocturnal activities ! On my departure, this time the Hotel were able to arrange a taxi to the airport BUT at double the standard rate. I eventually used an Uber cab based outside the hotel, at half the Hotel quote. ! The hotel receptionist hadn't even made out nor printed a receipt for my stay - just grunted an enquiry re. mini-bar use. The staff were neither happy nor did they appear motivated. So, if you want to experience a taste of soviet-era service, without a smile, and engage in unwanted conversation with strangers about the prospect of long or short-term relationships, then come to the Hotel Dnipro ! It does not reflect my wider experience of Kiev which is a great and vibrant city.

Old but clean rooms should tell them to clean the room the next day the location of the hotel is excellent.
