Tanjong Jara Resort

After a hectic few days in KL we were chaffeured by private van across to the Tanjong Jara Resort. We had never been before and it was a great all inclusive Luxury Escapes package that persuaded us to go for 6 days. It was a great decision in every way. Staff brilliant, food first class and our unit overlooking the South China Sea roomy and authentic. The resort offers Malaysian rustic charm and is the perfect escape to de-stress. I have been a travel writer for 40 years and been lucky to have travelled the world. This ranks high in my to go list. Small note weather in late January perfect at mid 20s but sea little rough for swimming, mind you pools great.

A fabulous location with wonderful views and a lovely sea breeze . The ambience was peaceful and relaxing. Everything was an easy, short walk from our room. The room was beautiful , very well equipped with a fabulous view of the sea. The whole resort was very clean and extremely good value for money. The staff were really helpful and friendly and made our stay just perfect. We will definitely return one day.

It was our 2 stay here and it was the best stay during our vacation. Now after nearly 4 weeks we can say it’s a must to come here . Quite wonderful staff nice food and everyone has a smile on his face and try to make you happy . Our stay at Tanjung Jara Resort was truly amazing. The resort is beautifully surrounded by lush greenery, and I absolutely loved strolling along the long private beach. Every staff member genuinely delivered the warmest Malaysian hospitality. We were never bored during our stay—there were so many activities to enjoy, from karaoke and online games to ping pong, pickleball, tennis, basketball, cycling, and the spa. We’ll definitely be back during the non-monsoon season to experience everything we missed 😎 The food was outstanding as well! Chef Ann and her team served incredible meals, and a special mention to the Okra’s chef too 🤩haha. Housekeeping was also very thoughtful, keeping our room spotless and providing evening turn-down service that made it extra cozy, even including a healing balm for us. Terima kasih! What truly stands out most is the people—they are the resort’s greatest asset. Keep up the wonderful spirit，you are all amazing!

Our last‑minute year‑end trip to Tanjong Jara Resort turned into one of the best decisions we’ve made. Although we experienced some booking issues initially, the team resolved everything efficiently, and from the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth that instantly made us feel at home. Returning after more than a decade brought back wonderful memories, and it was heartwarming to see familiar faces who are still passionate about their craft. The overall service has only improved over the years, thanks to the outstanding leadership of Resident Manager Ong Hend Lay, whose guest‑centric approach, attention to detail, and sincerity set the tone for the entire team. Special appreciation to: • Amira – cheerful, attentive, and always ensuring guests are well‑informed. • Spa Village team – professional, welcoming, and consistently delivering relaxing experiences despite high occupancy. • Nature Conservation team – educational, fun, and deeply passionate about their work. • Mukunda (F&B) – exceptionally polite and thoughtful, often going far beyond what’s expected. The F&B and Housekeeping teams were brilliant throughout our stay, offering attentive service, warm smiles, and thoughtful gestures that made our holiday truly memorable. We also appreciated the immaculate room upkeep and the effort put into maintaining the beautiful beach. A few minor improvements (gym equipment updates, small spa maintenance touch‑ups, and more targeted beach clean‑ups for Styrofoam debris) would further elevate the experience, but none of these affected our overall enjoyment. We left Tanjong Jara with full hearts, wonderful memories, and absolutely no regrets. It remains a true gem on the East Coast — and we can’t wait to return.

Recently have pay a visit to tanjong jara resort after introduced by my superior for sometime . So we decided to spend our anniversary over there with my lovely 3 years old boy Avery . In stead of our regular fireworks and countdown in a busy city center , I decided to try something new. This is also our family first time driving towards east coast … although Dec ppl always thought of monsoon , raining and dangerous all . It turn out to be a fascinating and fantastic journey . After an 4 hours drive from KL , we reached tanjong jara resort with a smooth journey , no much traffic and enjoyed the ride throughout the journey . We received a warm welcome from the reception with thorough explanation about the resort and activities . While walking to the room , I can feel then strong wind and sound from the sea waves - really make you feel very calm , relax and chill . The weather is fantastic , not much of sun light . The staff there especially Amira , Yana and chef Ann , great service , always very helpful and good taking care by them . We do met our superior coincidentally . My son is enjoying the rock pool so much . In the new year eve , they even have beachside party and fireworks. 👍👍👍

We were a large group of 15 people (kids included) and we just checked out from Tanjong Jara. It was an amazing experience for all of us, all thanks to the perfect service from the team. From Manager Ong, to Chef Ann, all the reception staff, and dining staff (special shoutout to Di Atas Sungei), everyone was so warm and attentive. Though December may not be the best time to visit because of the monsoon/rain, but when it’s not raining and with lower occupancy, it was the perfect time to enjoy all the facilities the resort has to offer. Really like the 5pm Kampung Activity Experience playing traditional games like Congkak, Sepak Takraw, stilts and a quick massage. We did not leave the resort for the entire stay (4 days 3 nights) and felt fully recharged after the trip. Thank you so much Tanjong Jara Resort!

An excellent experience from start to finish. At the time we stayed, end of Sept/beginning Oct, the hotel was delightfully peaceful. The accommodation (Serambi sea view room) and facilities were all very good indeed. The room was very spacious with everything one needs for a relaxing holiday at a 5 star beach resort including flip flops and lovely beach bag for use at the hotel. The food was interesting and varied and most importantly for me it was safe. Travelling with consideration for specific dietary needs is always challenging and without exception every meal at this hotel was perfectly delivered. I very much appreciated the detailed care and attention from all the staff involved with food service. I came into contact almost daily with Chef Ann and Madj who carefully considered all needs and they were great people to talk with about food in Malaysia. However, I must underline ALL the food service staff were excellent to the point of being almost telepathic about my requirements. The hotel had been informed by our travel agent about certain requirements and they took on board the information in a most professional, discrete and sensitive manner. Thank you to everyone. I would also recommend the activities that are on offer. We took the interesting city tour to Terengganu which also included lunch and took advantage of the Malay cookery class which included a most enlightening visit to the local market in Dungun. There are various other things on offer here ...but they are for the reader to discover! The (daily) Jara Hill walk with a knowledgeable guide was memorable, we discovered much about plants and jungle related things including seeing Dusky Leaf Monkeys. The whole team, (super attentive pool staff, cleaners, reception staff, hospitality manager, gardeners, etc etc) at this hotel are to be highly commended, every single member of staff we encountered, no matter what their role, joined in the collective YTL mission to make our stay perfect... and it was. Had an amazing stay at Tanjung Jara Resort. Warm hospitality from check-in to room tour. Chef Ain was incredibly friendly and always around to ensure a great dining experience. Thanks to Rado for the lovely birthday surprise and room deco arrangement. Special mention to Ms. Pika, the knowledgeable ranger who made our trek and craft session unforgettable. Can’t wait to return for the turtle season, in shaa Allah!

Booked Serambi Sea View Room, with a remark for anniversary celebration. Upon checking in, we were surprised with a complimentary upgrade to Anjung Room! From there, everything was nothing but amazing! Requests to fix the TV and clean the outdoor bath were attended very quickly. Knowing it was our anniversary, they served a fruit basket and made bed deco. Meals were tasty and servers were smiley and chatty (esp. Chef Anne). Breakfast spread was not much though. Don’t miss the spa, the 80 mins body massage was heavenly! Thank you for the hospitality. P/s: selected to be the King & Queen for the day. Find out yourself what that is ;)
