Pepper Tree Inn Tahoe City

SLUM LORDS! This hotel is absolutely unacceptable. The first thing that hit me was the smell — stale, unpleasant, and impossible to ignore. The carpet was filthy, clearly neglected for years, and the blanket on the bed looked old and worn, as though it hadn’t been replaced in decades. The bed itself was a nightmare: instead of a proper mattress, it had a wooden board running through it, making sleep nearly impossible. The window didn’t even lock, which made the room feel unsafe. On top of that, the bathroom didn’t even have a shower curtain, leaving water everywhere and adding to the overall sense of neglect. This place cuts corners at every possible turn and shows zero concern for guest comfort or safety. I would strongly caution anyone against staying here.

This hotel accused us smoking in the room which we didn’t do at all. We don’t smoke at all. That’s ridiculous and they charged us $250. We checked in on 9/2 and checked out next morning around 5:55 9/3 but no one in the office. We paid for two days stay but we don’t like the hotel because of its environment so we left one day early.

Terrible front desk.. aggressive and hostile If you disagree with him he will call the cops on you.. psychopath

The comfort of the bed literally had to sleep on the floor because of the springs on the bed.

Road work and construction in the Tahoe City area was noisy and made it more difficult to get around.

Terrible smell, uncomfortable mattress and noisy construction in the middle of the night.

Location, location, location.

Everything else. It started with the office staff who seemed to hate their own existence here, seemed inconvenienced by having guests. The structure looks like it’s falling apart. Everything is dirty. The elevator looks like a death trap. The stairs are boarded off. I can’t believe a place this close to the lake which always appears full of guests, doesn’t have money to take care of repairs. This place is a total dump.
