"Noisy and basic but good breakfast"

4.0

This hotel is very old and tired, the rooms have been modernised since some of the older reviews. Although modernised, the rooms are quite basic , no air conditioning, no safe, no kettle and no draws just a wardrobe for storage, the bathroom has been refitted well with a rainwater shower and nice fitments. The rooms were not as clean as they could have been and little cleaning took place during our weeks stay. Our room was not serviced on two days and when I asked reception for clean towels they finally arrived after midnight. On checkout I handed over the keys and the receptionist said "bye", no thank you or did you enjoy your stay just "bye". I also emailed reception our boarding passes asking them to print them, on checkout I asked if they got my email and without checking she just said NO. Breakfast was a good selection and plentiful. Overall the hotel is cheap so you don't expect too much which is exactly what you get. The worst thing with this hotel is the noise, they take in big groups of children (school groups?) who spend all night (until the early hours) racing up and down the corridors.

"good hotel"

8.0

Stayed here for 2 nights. Is good hotel at a reasonable price. The location was fair, is about a 15 min walk to the city centre. Rooms were bright and good size, some furniture was a little old, but in all was comfortable and clean. Would stay here again.

"Good hotel, with a fabulous view over the city"

8.0

We had the deal on a bigger room with a view over the river to the historic heart. We came back to it often and just sat enjoying the marvellous view. The staff were helpful, we used room service a couples of times successfully and the reception staff were usually very helpful. The only slight difficulty was that it was not very near the metro and there was only one rather rare bus into the city centre.

"Good value for money"

10.0

Large hotel with dated decor and basic facilities, so don't expect any luxuries. River view nice but traffic noise even on 5th floor! Window opens for fresh air. Only Russian TV. For all you Brits no tea/coffee in room so take a mini bolier and cappuccino sachets! Free water available on each floor near to lifts. Has bar with reasonably priced food and smoking area but don't think you can smoke in bedrooms. There are a few restaurants and a small supermarket close by, but go to Lenin square if you want more, which is a 12 minute walk. Beware if it's your first time that Lenina metro has two different exits which totally baffled me the first time - so make sure you have a map as few people speak English. Good buffet breakfast, friendly English speaking reception staff

"real Russia."

8.0

The hotel was built in 1970 and after the deadly fire of 1991' the top 3 floors were rebuilt. My room was tired; but the location and the sheer size of the hotel is great. The breakfast and lunch are typical Russian cuisine/quality. Insist on a river view room...the Cruiser Aurora, Peters fortress and the hermitage Museum are easy walking distance. If you want a sterile US hotel, this not for you. If you want to experience real Russia at reasonable rates than this is the Hotel.

"Rooms with view of Neva"

8.0

The hotel is located on the Vyborg side which is not convenient for sightseeing. The place is hurge, there 87 rooms per floor. Rooms are rather small and are not airconditioned. Selection of dishes at breakfast buffet is limited.
