The Esplanade Hotel

Stayed here for 4 ngts for business.. It's A nice Small Hotel in a great location across the road from firstral beach so if you like Surfing your be in your element. I had the Roxy room which was a nice room with sea view and lovely roll top bath and good shower. Breakfast was included but it's £25 if you don't have it included which is very expensive for what you get. Parking is a problem and it's first come first serve.

We stayed at the Esplanade Hotel for the second leg of our Cornwall holiday and were really looking forward to the location — and that did not disappoint. Fistral Beach is just across the road, and having the Quiksilver Surf School on-site was a huge bonus. Our son had his first surfing lessons there and loved every moment. A standout highlight of our stay was Halo, the restaurant manager. He brought such warmth, attentiveness, and charisma to every interaction — a real credit to the hotel team. However, while the setting is beautiful and the staff generally helpful, the comfort level during warm weather is a serious issue. The hotel lacks air conditioning, and worse still, has very limited airflow. We were travelling with our dog, so were not allowed to eat in the main restaurant and instead had to dine in the front lounge. This area is like a glass house — swelteringly hot, with no ventilation or fans. Our dog began hyperventilating during dinner, and we had to take regular breaks outside just to catch some fresh air. We had two rooms — the one allocated for our dog had an outside door, which thankfully we could keep open to let in some air. The sea view room, however, was unbearably hot. We barely slept the first night and even considered moving to the car for some relief. We ended up sleeping on the floor with the room door propped open for air. Walking the halls, we noticed we weren’t the only ones — many other guests had their room doors open too. Adding to the discomfort, the lift was out of order (and seemingly has been for a while), making it very awkward to move luggage through narrow, winding corridors and staircases. The hotel layout feels fragmented — almost like a patchwork of extensions without smooth internal flow, especially between the indoor and outdoor play areas. Oddly, the hotel’s lovely bar area — with fantastic seating and and outdoor area — isn’t licensed to serve food, which is a missed opportunity. It would be a much more comfortable and practical option for guests with dogs than the lounge. We were told the lack of air conditioning is “the Cornish way,” but in reality, global temperatures are rising and guest comfort should be taken more seriously — especially when it affects the health and wellbeing of both guests and pets. We really wanted to love our stay here. The beach is incredible, the surf school is brilliant, and the people — especially Halo — were lovely. But sadly, the physical discomfort left a big mark on our experience.

Great hotel

No AC in the family room! Dust everywhere on the walls etc. Carpets musty damp and stained Curtain rod fell off in room I had an immunocompromised Toddler with me so we are particular about these things and safety. Jacuzzi dirty Furniture outside in balcony broken! Honestly the key system for reserved parking is a joke we were expecting a specific spot but it's open to park in any spot after unlocking the bar. Food was OK, breakfast decent Pool was fun soft play was great Cleaning crew friendly Mid Night check in was great and smooth Location is decent We dint pick the cheapest hotel so was quite disappointed over all

Booked Family Room. Deposit Paid. As soon as we checked in reception asked for a holding fee of £200. I was shocked as we only booked for four days room was awful I was promised a sea view the room supplied was a back of hotel view I was disappointed and to top it off was told lift was not working I was told it has not worked since before last year by a member of staff. at time of booking I told them that my sister was disabled with poor mobility. during our stay there was loud noise from children running around the hotel corridors at 1am Complained to hotel reception Lauren who just laughed. about it. I would not recommend staying here as we will not in future.

The espanlade hotel is a great hotel but it’s stand out features are its staff. I booked the private cinema room as a surprise for my husband to play our wedding video and it was perfect! We love this hotel for many reasons the views, the pool, the soft play but the stand out is the staff who are always welcoming. Thank you Adam and team we will be booking a birthday sorry imminently!

Not as good as our first trip. Bolts were loose in kids bunk beds. Shower needed repair. Staff were helpfull to resolve, but both issues should not have happened. 2 meals were very good, but the steak was poorly done, asked for medium and got rare. Location is great though, and facilities are good overall. We may return for a 3rd mini break, unsure

Very nice hotel .clean modern large bedroom and staff very nice and friendly Only reason I have left 4 stars not 5 as the evening meals were very poor ,perhaps that was because we were part of a coach party and paid a reduced price ?but otherwise excellent thank you ,including the breakfast buffet

Everything was clean and comfortable. Felt very homely.

Hotel was beautiful and clean. All the staff where very friendly, food was great with a great view of the beach. Only down side was the temperature of the room, we had a none sea view room (119) and it was really hot in the middle of the night. We had the door and window wide open with a fan on, both my kids where very sweaty and I had to get up twice to go stand outside in the middle of the night.
