"An overdue makeover required immediately."

Nice location. Looks great from the pictures and from outside. Great breakfast. Plenty of space.

A bit of a lengthy complaint which I feel is justified as having stayed there 18 months ago we were happy to be returning, but it is like chalk and cheese. 18 months ago the dinner and breakfast were really good, and the rooms were what you'd expect even though the hotel is a little tired in places. However this time was horrendous. My room (250) was ok, but out of our group of 5 hikers with 5 separate rooms, 3 rooms had no working TV. One had no hot water and two had a trickle due to low water pressure, (more than half hour to run a bath after a hike on the peaks) supposedly due to demand, though the hotel wasn't busy. Marks on the sheets in places and the single room mattress may as well not have been there. Many cobwebs and dirty corners in each room too. On arrival we had planned to eat at the hotel as it was so good 18 months ago. We were told to book for dinner on the first night, though only 4 other people were at dinner! I wish we hadn't bothered. Very little selection but the problem was the quality. The starters arrived immediately after ordering (microwaved?) but the soup and meatballs were cold, and flavourless. The mains were small in quantity and poor in taste. Soggy fish, slice of soggy pie, undercooked/old chips. Service wasn't particularly happy either. We mentioned to the barman post dinner that it was a lot different to 18 months ago and he explained that there had been 2 owners since then and that the hotel was closing in November for a major refurbishment and reopening in March. I imagine this is the reason for the tired, can't be bothered, don't really care vibe the hotel exuded. A shame as it could really be a stunning venue.

"For £53 about right"

Bed comfy. But then I’d had a busy day and several drinks. Keswick and surroundings is the attraction.

Bathroom mouldy. Needs attention

The location and the food.

The hotel has been sold and will close from the end of October for refurbishment. It is a little run down at the moment.
