Independence 47 Hotel

There were bed bugs here I noticed only a few minutes after checking in

It was good

Didn’t get the room requested along with stained carpet and not enough towels.

It smelt of feces and drugs.

Older property is obvious, but is cared for wiith one exception on this visit. There was a "wad" of long black hair stuck to the back of the shower, didn't see it until we were in the shower..... Room was otherwise clean, and pleasant smelling even for the obvious age of the facility, it seemed to be a cared for site. I would also recommend repainting the parking spots, hard to tell what is handicapped and not.... I will stay there again, but certainly checking the shower a little closer before use.

Patty at the lobby was very nice and helpful. The lobby was decent. The building that our room was in was literally falling apart. Smelled like mold and mildew. The door looked like it was kicked in and repaired several times. Beds and pillows were as old as the building. You will be better off sleeping in your car.

The grounds were very nice and so was the pool, except it needed to be cleaned and so lights were burned out. It also needs a rope to divide the VERY deep end . a child nearly drowned. I've never seen an 8 ft pool at a hotel before. The hot tub was colder than the pool. And there was no complimentary breakfast as advertised, only coffee. When traveling with kids- that matters.

Nice hotel. It gets the job done and the pool is very nice. The beds are a little hard/worn out but they are good enough. Could also use some better pillows. The front counter staff is very nice and helpful. I would like to thank the manager for allowing me to keep my room a little longer because I was waiting to go to my wedding later in the day. She allowed me to keep my room to get ready in. I really appreciate that!

Overall it was nice, our room was a little dated but it was huge and served out purpose. We took our kids to Medieval Times, and it was very close and convenient. The parking was good and the beds were very comfortable.
