The Capistrano Coast House

The view of the ocean right outside our second story bungalow was beautiful. The Southern CA vibe of beach walkers, cars, and an occasional train gave the place the feel of long ago beach days. It was perfect that you could close the door and have quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Next time we’ll try to reserve the electric bikes earlier as they were never available.

El Caminante Bungalows were a perfect place to kick off our son’s wedding weekend on July 18th. Having an event with over 90 people, a food truck and a DJ etc is not an easy task, logistically speaking. However, Jocelyn, Brandon & staff were phenomenal and made it all seem easy!! Everyone helped to accommodate any need we had, problem solved all issues that occurred and truly helped in every way to make our event seamless and perfect! I can’t say enough about how phenomenal this place is! Centrally located, beautiful views of the ocean, tastefully decorated rooms and perfect small intimate patios with fire pits! Truly a special place!!!

We came for a short weekend away for our anniversary! We had a wonderful time. Beds were so comfortable and the hotel is beach front so you can enjoy the beach from your hotel room. The staff were welcoming and kind. The hotel is close to the trolley that will take you all around Dana Point. We recommend this hotel to everyone 😊

Very impressive hotel. The tile work was such a beautiful touch. All aspects of our room were perfect, and it seemed as though we were in a real Spanish-style home on a ranchero. The staff were excellent, and catered to our every need. I would stay here again without any hesitation.

El Caminante feels truly special every detail is beautifully curated and stylish without trying too hard. The location is unbeatable, right across from the ocean, and I loved the garden full of pollinator-friendly plants. The bar is cozy and chic, with vinyl records playing that give it such a great vibe. I took one of the electric bikes (free for guests!) for a ride along the coast—such a nice perk. Even the train that passes by adds a laid-back, bohemian feel. I’ll definitely be coming back,not just to stay, but for lunch and one of their amazing cocktails with an ocean view. Great customer service!

Incredible location and super cool space. I like unique boutique hotels and this property is that. I like the ocean view.

I had such a wonderful time at the hotel. The staff is fantastic and very attentive. There is such an amazing vibe right when you walk in from the design to the music to the staff's energy. 10/10 will be back! Thank you for everything and we cannot wait to return in a couple weeks!

I was having a beautiful stay in your hotel until your Mexican housekeepers lied! I cannot believe you contacted the Sheriff in order to “deny service”. They gave me 20 minutes to vacate the premises assuring me I’d get a FULL REFUND! I am fleeing domestic violence and you are in possession of 4 suitcases of everything I own, valued at $15,000! There was no reason for this other than your staff are racist and lied because I am white and did not want my room serviced. You better make this right or my team will be suing the hell out of you. Unbelievable

Room decor and gardens.

For the price, the room was extremely small. No clothes storage (but for 6 hangers mounted on a wall rack). Nowhere inside the room to sit. (Patio was comfortable but hot in the afternoons with no shade) Ocean view was across a busy throughfare and railway line (all at eye level)
