"Couple stay"

Staff were so accommodating from the day I made the booking right through to leaving. A big shout out to Josh for making our stay extra special. We had an incredible experience, and would highly recommend.

"Great service and great food"

Lovely hotel with great facilities. But highlight for us was the service and meals in restaurant. Evening meal was FANTASTIC with great service from Josh and breakfast the next morning just as good, with superb service from Sue. Definitely use this hotel when next in the region!

"Blissful Spa, Gourmet Food and Tranquil Night Sleep"

We had best experience all round. From warm welcome at reception with Megan. The whole atmosphere was setting a great Christmas feeling. Later a blissful Spa experience. To top it off the food at the Bar was truly gourmet! The room was truly clean and sparkling, very quiet. For the finish the breakfast was truly amazing and Susan was very nice and helpful with additional requests! The staff and whole experience was memorable and special 🙂

"Overnight spa break"

I wanted to let you know about my spa, My friend & I came to stay at the Belfry Cambridge on 22nd Nov for 1 night. We travelled from Newcastle as we celebrate our birthdays together that weekend each year. When we arrived at check in, the receptionist “Helen” was checking in another guest. The other guests were advised they were ungraded & able to check in straight way. They were also advised of all the timings of the pool, breakfast & dinner. When Helen spoke to us, she advised us it’s 2pm & we were to early to check & that we need to come back at 3pm….. We had already paid for an upgraded Delux twin room so I was shocked at her behaviour towards us. I didn’t want to start the weekend on a negative so we went to the restaurant for lunch. We ordered lunch & a bottle of wine at approx 2:20. We were told it would take about 35 minutes as they were busy. It was 3:15 when I went up to the bar to query our lunch… I was told it shouldn’t be too long. At 3:30, a staff member came to ask us what we ordered????? The manager did come & apologie & then was bringing over our lunch, when she accidentally dropped 1 of the meals on the floor…. We literally couldn’t believe this. This was obviously an accident & I understand that. The manager gave us a refund for the 2 lunch meals. But this was not the point. We had looked forward to this weekend for 6 months as we work long hours. We wasted nearly 2 hours in the restaurant for 2 simple sandwiches. I was so disappointed as we had our day planned, we were due to go to the spa, dinner was booked for 7:45 & we also wanted to relax in the room for a while after the long journey.. However now dinner had to be pushed back to 8:30, we didn’t get much time in the room & the whole day was rushed. The spa was rushed… The most upsetting & frustrating issue for us was how we were treated so differently at reception by Helen. This is unacceptable & rude behaviour. Then to top it all off, our lunch order was obviously forgotten about & not put through. The manager of the restaurant did apologise. I can say we did not enjoy our stay at your hotel due to the above issues & I really think you need to look into staff training with Helen..

"Good value and friendly staff."

Nice hotel. A good location which was quiet yet a short bus ride into Cambridge. Staff very helpful and the bar area was comfy and had quiet corners if required. Our Deluxe Double room was huge with a super king sized bed. Everything was spotless. No air con though which might be an issue in the summer months. Bed comfy. Towels good and they included a dressing gown. Breakfast had most things. Cereals, fruit, pastries. A fully cooked one as well but like all buffets was a bit hit and miss on the egg front. Coffee was excellent too. All in all a good value hotel in a safe area and with free parking. There’s also a nice local pub if you wanna cheaper evening. Would definitely use again.

"A bit disappointed"

Room spacious and clean. Spa okay but changing rooms a bit tired. Food in restaurant good in the evening but breakfast probably the worst hotel breakfast I have experienced. Lukewarm and the eggs inedible. I’ve given a 4 but probably only a 3.

"Can not wait to go back!"

What a lovely stay the stuff made us feel so welcome. The hotel was clean. The room was spotless with lovely soft fresh towels and bed sheets. Was good parking provided. The noises of the hotel was quiet and in the room was silent the curtains was thick so no sun shining through in the morning. The food was amazing had room service for dinner and the burger is the best burger I have ever had I will be going back just for that alone.

"Not spa quality"

Okay Stay Good points— Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms lovely and modern. Bad- Pool area is grubby and needs a refresh , hot tub needs redoing, the floor in po area was extremely wet and dangerous, the changing rooms are filthy, floor had cms of water, water dripping from ceiling, condensation was thick running down walls , toilet overflow broken, towels all placed on floor in showers as leaking, freezing cold changing rooms, it’s definitely not a spa feeling. Breakfast adequate - cold fry up, basic choices

"Good choice for a brief stay if you happen to be in the area"

I was attending some training near by and this was one of the hotel accommodation options recommended by the trainer. In hindsight, I would have probably preferred a smaller more isolated hotel however I was reasonably happy with this hotel. I was upgraded to a larger room with a separate living space which was wasted on me - perhaps more suited to a couple using the room. The rooms are fine. Comfortable, clean and spacious. The restaurant food was excellent. Possibly the best part of my stay. Good choice of tasty food all reasonably well priced. The staff were also very attentive.

"A mixed bag, mostly good!"

Overall we quite enjoyed our stay, although it was a mixed bag. We were upgraded to the Curwen suite, which seemed great, until we realised that the heating was not working and it was a very cold day and night. In fairness, after complaining an electric fire was supplied, but this obviously only heated the bedroom, which meant the other areas were too cold to use. The suite was large, comfortable and well equipped, but was quite dark with just one tiny window in each room, and my wife missed a full length mirror. The lack of heat and light definitely took the edge off what otherwise would have been a lovely experience. The meal and service were both excellent and all the staff with whom we came into contact with were great. The spa was again a mixed bag - the jacuzzi was not as warm as you would normally expect, and the floor all around the pool area was a bit wet and grubby - the no outside shoes rule being very difficult to enforce. We both enjoyed our massage. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but might have actually been better in an ordinary room with proper heating!
