Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara

This is our second visit to this wonderful hotel, it’s the place to stay if you go to the falls. We love the animals wandering in the grounds, to the easy access to the falls, and the great bar to the friendliness of the staff, all overlooking the mighty Zambezi. I would recommend getting the Karza visa so you can cross boarders easily, you can get this on your arrival in the airport, and will save you time crossing any of the local boarders, from here you can cross to see the falls from the Zimbabwe side, and there are trips well worth doing there, also you can cross into Botswana quickly, and I would recommend a day safari there, it’s very different to South Africa, as you have a boat safari in the afternoon and the landscape is very different to. Just a beautiful place to stay with wonderful staff, thank you again for a great stay.

Wonderful experience! The facilities were clean and comfortable. The setting was beautiful on the Zambezi River. The staff were polite and accommodating. A special thank you to Ankur who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. Phyllis was a pleasure to speak with in the Old Drift Restaurant. Jonathan was the butler assigned to our room block. He was wonderful as well. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a wonderful experience!

The location and ambience of this hotel is second to none. IT was everything we hoped it would be and more. Great food, great service and phenomenal location.

The property was adequate . It really needs updating in some ways. The property definitely lacks attention to detail. This property is owned by Minor Hotels - HQ in Bangkok. Minor Hotels has multiple properties in this area and gives “nominal” support to the area. Not nearly enough IMO. The majority of the staff were excellent and very helpful. Did have to change rooms bc our room had not really been cleaned - very surprising. The “hostess” Beatrice was going through the motion when showing us our room and was pretty irritated when we pointed out the room was not clean. She reluctantly moved us to another room which did not prove to be that much better. We did get the sense that staff are hesitant in their interactions with management and this kind of made things feel a bit uneasy at times. Were we ever to return to this area of South Africa, we would have our agent do a lot more homework on accommodations - perhaps something like The Thorn Tree… Took pictures to give an idea on the wear & tear on these rooms…

Situated within the the Mosi-oa-tunya national park, means wild animals can come and go around the hotel grounds. Our second time to the Royal Livingstone, with one of the unique pleasures being able to watch wild Zebra's, Giraffes and Baboons meander around the pool and main hotel. Just wonderful. Situated a short walk from the Zambian side of the Falls, the Royal Livingstone is a magical hotel. In every respect a wonderful and unique experience. One tip for travelers, especially in the Zambian spring and summer when the Falls are lower on the Zambian side, get a KAZA visa when you land at the airport. You can then easily and speedily cross into Zimbabwe over the Victoria Falls bridge and view the falls from the Zim side which are always in full flow and spectacular. Don't think about anywhere else if you visit the Falls

Didn’t stay here but came for dinner to enjoy the hotel as everyone said it’s the place to come. Yes grounds are lovely and you can sit on a platform right be the river.Just to say though it is indeed a very high end establishment,and the service is very attentive if you like this sort of thing. Prices match this- 11usd for a beer that’s 1usd in the local shops for example.

We stayed here for two nights. Our room was in the building farthest from the main building, as several buildings were undergoing renovations. It was about a five-minute walk to the main building, passing by the gym. The gym itself was spacious and clean. It was a nice place to get a workout. Our room was a decent size. We did find quite a few bugs inside, which seems to be a common issue based on other reviews we've read. Our bulter did provide bug stray and there was a net around the bed. The location of the hotel is beautiful, situated right next to the falls. It's also within a national park, meaning giraffes, zebras, and other animals freely roam the property, which was a unique and memorable experience. We got lots of pictures with the animials. They migth be friendly but they are still wild animals. Keep your distance. Overall a nice stay in Livingston when visiting Victoria Falls.
