"DO NOT STAY HERE - Major refurbishment works"

2.0

Travelodge are just out to make money here. They've taken over an old hotel and are refurbishing it, rather than do it then open they are trying to make money by opening up some rooms as they go but there is still major refurbishment works going on and they do not inform you. It says on their website "Big news! Refurbishments are underway at our Manchester Central Riverside hotel from 18th August - 12th December 2025. Our Bar Café will be temporarily closed between 10th November - 5th December 2025 to make way for some exciting improvements. Rest assured, we’re doing everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as usual while construction is ongoing." This implies the work will be minimal but it isn't. Major works are taking place with workmen on site 8am - 6pm. I was woken up at 8.40am but loud drilling as they were working in the rooms below the ones they are using for guests. From then there was drilling, banging, a large fan in the corridor to dry paint, workmen talking / shouting and loud music from their radio. I was traveling a lot for work and needed to rest, I booked Travelodge for 12pm check out but wasn't able to rest as planned. I would not stay here until the work in completed in December.

"Amazing staffs and amazing rooms"

10.0

Have stayed in Campanile before but now it’s changed to a Travelodge. The refurbished rooms are a massive upgrade! The room was clean and bright with brand new carpets and amazing lighting. Although the refurb is still on-going on the other floors, the staffs on desk did let us know about it during check in and it is understandable. The reception staffs were lovely and helpful, big thanks to Royce and Francheska for making us feel warm and welcome during our stay. Great services at the reception and bar from them. Will definitely come again.

What a change from the old Campanile! The hotel is having a fresh make over and the rooms are much brighter and welcoming. When we arrived.....with many questions Steph the assistant manager was excellent, helping with everything we needed. It will be my go to place whenever in Manchester, clean, bright, great staff, and the right price.

"Lovely recovered rooms and lovely team"

10.0

Lovely hotel, got to stay in a new renovated room and it was a very nice experience. Plenty of parking and a lovely bar too. Close enough to city centre and loads of shops around for a quick browse. Team were lovely at reception and helped with all questions asked. Stayed for a quick night before flight out in the morning. There were builders on side but the noise wasn’t a bother and it does state on the website they are having a refurb so we knew promptly before arrival. Would stay again in the future.

"New Travelodge which is being updated."

8.0

The hotel has been taken over by Travelodge and is currently being upgraded to their standard. The reception and bar/restaurant are in a separate building from the bedrooms which are 2 minutes walk away. The bedrooms are on 3 floors and there are no lifts so you need to be able to carry luggage upstairs. That being said we met the housekeeper on arrival and she offered to carry our case but we didn't need her to. We received a warm welcome from the reception staff and they gave us information regarding public transport etc. We were allocated a room on the 3rd floor which had been newly refurbished. The room had a new window frame and The carpets were newly laid both in the room an on the corridor. The furniture including the clothing rack, desk and headboard which also houses the bedside shelves. were new. The bath, shower and toilet appeared new. There was a new convector heater although we found the room warm enough. There were electrical sockets at both sides of the bed and at the side of the desk which also had USB ports. There was a new kettle and a supply of tea and coffee. The bed, pillows, duvet and towels were all brand new. The bed was very comfortable. The 2 things which did not appear to have been replaced were the toilet seat and the room door although this will probably be addressed. The second floor is currently being refurbished. The hotel has a bar/restaurant which has not been updated yet but will be done within the next couple of months. This room is slightly dated but clean and adequate. We had the standard Travelodge breakfast and it was an English breakfast which was fine. The bar serves well known branded drinks as you would expect. A pint of lager and a vodka and lemonade cost £14 as they didn't have draught lemonade so you had to buy a can. There was some noise as people moved around the corridor but this wasn't excessive and didn't disturb us. The hotel is next to a busy main road but it didn't disturb us although, you can hear the sirens of emergency vehicles going past. There is a large car park on site which costs £8 for 24 hours. We arrived at Piccadilly Station and walked to Piccadilly Gardens where we caught a number 33 bus from stand S (outside Wetherspoons) and this took around 15-20 minutes and dropped us off within 5 minutes walk of the hotel, you have to cross the road but there is a crossing. The fare was £2. The Bee Network app is good as it gives bus times and ticketing options. The bus stop into town is a couple of minutes walk from reception. We used Uber to get back at night and the fare from town varied from £6 on Friday night to £12 on Saturday night (as there was heavy Rain and thus high demand). There is a retail park across the road with the shops listed on a large sign should you require anything. We would use the hotel again.
