Surrey Inn Ashland

The room was superficially clean, with laminate wood floors. However, there were chip crumps and wood mulch pieces in the corners and edges of the room. The bedspread was old with several stains, and the pillows were covered with pillow shams, matching the bedspread, but no pillowcases. We asked the front desk about pillowcases and they said “do you want some pillowcases?“ We said yes and they gave us some. The towels were thin, worn out, and had stains. The hotel advertised hairdryers in the room however, our hairdryer was broken. I asked at the front desk and they gave me one that did work. When we pulled out the desk chair, there was a pair of men’s boxers on the chair.( not ours). We returned these in at the front desk and told them where we found them. The property advertises daily maid service, but we were there for three nights and never had any service. The shower had very strong water pressure, but there was no way to control the water pressure. The water came out very strong and did not drain sufficiently so while taking a shower you ended up standing in several inches of water. There is little soundproofing in the rooms and we could hear people next-door and people walking and stomping above us at all hours of the day and night. With a few minor repairs and better housekeeping, this hotel could be greatly improved and have a much higher rating.

It is a decent and comfortable place for the money. However, the vinyl covered shower/bathtub is slippery and there are no grab bars. This is a huge risk.

It was nice overall

Little hole in the wall with an awesome pub attached. Staff was nice, rooms were clean. Only issue was our access cards deactivated at 0930 hours the day of check out, but was quickly rectified. All in all, would def go back.

This was an inexpensive hotel with new floors, new paint on the walls, pleasant lobby, and comfortable bed. Good hotel for the money!

Hotel is out of business

We had to wait for front desk person to show up both when we arrived and left. It is listed as non smoking but the room stunk from cigarettes
