The Plaza Hotel Downtown, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

The staff were very friendly.

We arrived from Calgary at 2:00 a.m. and got to our room ready to just go to sleep. The bed sheet had what looked like a coffee stain on it when we pulled back the covers. It wasn't a huge stain, but what that made me think was that the sheets were not washed from the previous guests and they just remade the bed. There were also some sort of sticky clumps of something stuck to the bottom of the bathtub and the fridge smelled really bad. We called down and requested a new room. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and understanding and switched us to another room right away but the new room had two twin beds instead of a king bed that we had originally booked. There was also no plug for the bath tub, we ran out of toilet paper and had to have housekeeping bring us a new roll (took quite a while so had to wait to use the washroom), there was a make up stain on one of the towels (it was not my makeup because I don't wear foundation and I use makeup wipes to remove my makeup and we also hadn't used any of the towels at that point) and when we went to have a shower in the morning, the water was lukewarm at best. And last but not least, we opened our blinds to see 3 homeless people and all their belongings just hanging out behind the hotel. They were clearly high and two of them were yelling at each other for a bit. The one guy eventually passed out in the middle of the "parking lot" and a passerby had to go see if he was still alive. I understand that that situation is out of your control, somewhat, but maybe a call to the police or something to monitor the area would help keep the area a bit safer for everyone. It was definitely a disappointing stay to say the least and I have to say that we will NOT be staying there again, nor will we recommend the Hotel to anyone.

During my 2 night stay, I experienced: -no parking that I had paid for due to lack of available spaces -dirty room including: a green sticky substance dripping down a wall, something black and greasy along the edge of the bathtub, sticky liquids on a table, dirty carpets and furniture, and blood on the bedsheets -the bloody bedsheets were finally changed after asking multiple times -the dead bolt was not functioning -strong and overwhelming marijuana coming through air vent as there is a cannabis store in the hotel building -very loud music from 10pm to 2am (so loud that it actually shook the bed) as the lounge turns into a night club
