Hotel Alster

Very friendly staff, good breakfast, really close to main station and Alster. But the room was very small.

Liked location. Amenities weren’t so great and clean enough but some spots missed. Overall ok but a bit under welming for the cost.

We stayed at this hotel while travelling with Interrail. The hotel is close to the main station, has good beds, a decent bathroom and an ok breakfast. Very good value for the price when you just need a place to sleep for one night.

This is a good location, walking distance to many museums and galleries.

This is an Ok hotel to stay at when interrailing. Close to the main railway station. Have room for five. Good beds, ok bathroom and decent breakfast. Close to a nice cluster of streetfood restaurants. Think we will stay here next time in Hamburg.

Great location near central station, helpful staff, good breakfast, but very small room. Had difficulty fitting in suitcases.

This hotel is in what you might call the "hotel district" with the up-market Atlantic and the less expensive Ibis facing each other in a street close by.The Novum was very obliging with luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, our room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent for this grade of accommodation, with many cereal choices, the usual meats and cheeses, yogurt which seemed home-made and very nice, plus excellent scrambled egg. The location is really good, in a quiet street from where I could walk at a medium pace to the Rathaus in 15 minutes, very close to the lakeshore,10 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof and 5 minutes from the Kunstalle art gallery.The hotel had a free map of Hamburg, a lift, our room had a large shower enclosure and a warmed towel-rail. The only things which could have improved our stay were the provision of a kettle and tea/coffee, and thicker, more substantial pillows. No spare bedding in the wardrobe....a basic amenity I would have thought. Overall, a pleasant hotel for any length of stay in Hamburg.

I wouldnt recommend this hotel for the rude and unhelpful staff. The location of the hotel is good. It's at walking distance from the central station but the lady at the reception is absolutely rude. If you are someone who expects any service (like a restaurant or warm water or charger or absolutely anything to be honest) this is not the place to stay. Room amenities are very basic and there are definitely many more decent places to stay in with trained and professional staff.
