I love the improvements that they’ve made. They’ve redecorated some of the rooms. A lot of the furniture had new upholstery very well done.

The staff was not that great. I feel like the current manager might be a bit of a bully. No one was smiling. Everyone was kind of in fear of him.

The historic details at the hotel were wonderful. We were very comfortable and the location was excellent. The staff members were friendly and welcoming every time we entered.

The elevator was out of commission. The housekeeping cart was kept in a private dining space, but was always visible. This felt a bit tacky.

Parking is an issue. You have to park on adjacent city streets. Elevator was not working.

Heading back to Portland from a road trip, we stopped at this property to take a look - it seems so cute from the outside! We had actually planned to stay here but ended up stopping earlier in Boise, because it was getting late. We walked into the lobby, and I turned right to look at the gift shop. My husband walked past the desk, saying we wanted to take a look, we might stay there the next time we’re traveling this direction. The front desk person, Alana (sp?) acted flustered and kind of freaked out - she came around the desk and stood in my husband’s path, and said that because this is a working hotel, no one is allowed to go past the desk unless they have paid, “for the safety of the guests”. She acted like we were some kind of threat. She said if we wanted to see what the hotel looks like, we would have to come to the scheduled tour. We said no thanks, and when I came to check out the reviews here, I can see that this is common practice, and that front desk staff are trained to push the paid tour. It was rude, awful service, and we won’t be staying here.
