Geiser Grand Hotel

My mom and I are locals and always enjoy our delicious meals, good wine selection and craft cocktails when visiting the Geiser Grand! Here is their new buffalo wings with their homemade blue cheese sauce and blue cheese crusted steak! YUM!

The coffee in the room was bad

Great location, historic charm, clean, huge rooms.

Food was not that great.

We came into Baker City from Salt Lake City, the last over night stop on a two week road trip. We arrived at the hotel without a reservation or reading any reviews. WOW. Blown away by the beauty of the chandeliers lit up at night inside the grand lobby. The manager was so knowledgeable, personable and helpful. The bed was lusciously comfy, and the suite spacious and well equipped. The stained glass ceiling in the dining area was magnificent. We were disappointed we missed signing up for the breakfast, as it was cancelled due to lack of reservations. However found an amazing little coffee shop just a block away. We define plan to return again. Hopefully next time we will get a visit with a ghost.

The front desk clerk Tyree is a perfect example of bad customer service. The words thank you are not in his vocabulary. I know management has tried to educate him on this topic to no avail. Baker City is a small town. It can be a challenge to find individuals with the skill set to perform well in a front desk hotel position. Businesses in Baker City, like most towns in rural Oregon rely on residents to keep them in business. As a resident of aBaker City, I will not patronize this businees unlees circumstances force me to do so , understand select individuals with the business can be a little difficult to work with. The day manager Lief is fabulous. I know he works diligently to keep the ship on an even keel. With employees like Tyree, he is fighting a losing battle. Tyree could not get a job at a decent hotel in a large city. His behavior on the desk gives one the impression that he thinks he is a rude employee at a Four Seasons resort. I can guarantee with his attitude, he would not be hired at the worst Hotel 6 in the country. I hope someone with a pay grade far above makes a serious attempt to retrain him, or fires him based on well documented unsatisfactory performance reviews if he fails to make significant progress in tasks included in the job description for a hotel front desk clerk.
