"Great location, average rooms."

The location was outstanding. You could walk around downtown from the hotel with ease. Parking was convenient. Hotel history was great.

The rooms need updating. The lack of air conditioning or heat in the bedroom was troubling. Fans were provided but proved inadequate.

Great location in terms of being able to walk to restaurants and shops. Very cool historic building. And viewing the forbidden art is a must.

The mattress was very uncomfortable. And we know the hotel can't control this but there was loud revving of cars and motorcycles cruising the plaza and surrounding streets until after midnight one night and after 3 am the second night. This made for an almost sleepless vacation.

Great location. Parking. Friendly staff

Beds were not great. Floors were so creaky. There were several places on the walls that looked like they were being repaired. But not painted. The Murphy bed had one leg that didn't stay secure.

"It’s historic I’d opt for less historic next time"

La Fonda is the anchor for the plaza. There’s food and shopping literally outside the door. Unfortunately, they’re rebuilding the pergola in the plaza right now. So it’s noisy and unsightly. Has to be done, I guess. Parking is $10 a day. The room was adequate and somewhat modern. Access to filtered water sure would be nice. There’s a coffee maker in the room. Supply your own water. The guy at the front desk may have been new. He had some difficulties. The front desk man at night was more helpful.

The hotel itself is loaded with charm. Not fancy but tremendously quaint. Location wise, you can’t get more centrally located! Unfortunately, to no fault of the hotel, it is surrounded by what is undeniably a drug epidemic in Taos. Because of this, we didn’t want to leave the hotel after the sun set and we ate at the restaurant inside the hotel which was fantastic with a big lean towards vegan. Taos is so incredibly beautiful but the overwhelming clear and present drug use (literally in the alleyway beside the hotel where our window overlooked and the parking lot in the rear) was equal parts heartbreaking and scary.
