Duval House

Absolutely fantastic place, perfect for the 2 of us! Located just far enough on Duval that it was quiet, but a quick effortless walk to best nightlife of Key West. This was a quaint, beautiful property. All the staff were absolutely great. We arrived at 1 expecting to just drop luggage, but our room was ready! They also let us store luggage there after check out until we took the Key West Express back to Ft. Myers. They offered us a free drink on arrival, and water on our way out. There are drinks available to purchase while the office was open. We booked the queen cottage, which was a small 2 levels, with the bed upstairs with a peaked loft. Super reasonable at 319 a night looking at other options in the area. I am 6ft and had no issue, but it does require some situational awareness to not crack your head. The pool is heated, and the breakfast was really good. They served you Belgium waffles, had parfaits in mason jars, fruit, hard boiled eggs, bagels, English muffins and mini muffins. Really hit the spot. The staff was super friendly. I would 100% stay here again and would highly recommend.

We booked the duval house with two other couples. The poor rating was for our room. We booked a deluxe king and were placed very far from the main building in room 29. We were not within the locked area. The room was old, there was not a lot of room on either side of the bed, and I would hit my shin most times getting up to go to the bathroom as i turned the corner. Room was old, I think it was originally a part of the neighboring hotel. The bathroom also smelled when I took a shower more than a few minutes. It was the seaweed/low tide smell. You have to request housekeeping service. We only requested it on our last day and left room for 4.5 hours to not have the room done. They did get me sheets and towels right away and I made my own bed. I was with other couples so seeing that my sister was in a spacious apartment for an extra 20 dollars a night was disconcerting. Our room was noisy at night with people and bars and side road work being done every morning (and roosters but I understand that is just an unfortunate part of key west). Guests should be told that this room is outside the property, and should be less expensive. In looking over reviews, unit 29 comes up repeatedly. It might be time for the Duvall house to update the room and/or pricing. We thought about requesting another room, but once you unpack, moving rooms was not very enticing. The garden was beautiful, great place to hang with coffee in morning. Breakfast was very fresh and healthy and the dining staff was lovely. Pool was perfect temperature. Front office staff was nice as well.

We loved the Duval House!! The king bed was fantastic, our room was huge with a balcony overlooking the gardens. They greeted us with a beverage choice. We had a tour of breakfast buffet next morning. I would stay here again anytime. The place is beautiful, kept up to date though historic. and in the middle of the action in Key West. They pay attention to detail. Thanks, Duval house!

My stay at the Duval House in Key West was absolutely wonderful. The property is beautiful and quaint, with a charm that perfectly captures the laid‑back island vibe. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out—everyone was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable. The grounds are well maintained and peaceful, offering a relaxing oasis right in the heart of all the action. The service was excellent throughout our stay, from check-in to check-out, and every interaction felt warm and personal. If you’re looking for a place that combines classic Key West charm, comfort, and exceptional service, Duval House is a fantastic choice. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will absolutely stay here again!

Amazing time at this hidden gem. Would definitely recommend it. Evelyn & Bruce were great in front office. Ladies at breakfast were amazing!!!
