"🍹 Learn, Taste, and Enjoy the World of Tequila with Pilar – Highly Recommended!"

10.0

We would like to review the Tequila Experience, which was truly one of the highlights of our stay. Pilar guided the entire experience wonderfully from start to finish. In a relaxed, engaging, and informative way, she taught us a great deal about tequila production in Mexico. We especially enjoyed learning about the different regions where tequila is produced, the history behind the various brands, and how to recognize authentic, high-quality tequila. She also explained the differences between tequilas best suited for cocktails and those meant to be enjoyed neat. The tasting itself was excellent, and her descriptions of the products and their flavor profiles made the experience even more enjoyable and interesting. Pilar created a fun and welcoming atmosphere throughout the session. We learned a lot, gained new insights, and had a fantastic time. 🤩 Thank you, Pilar, for this wonderful experience! 👏 We highly recommend the Tequila Experience to anyone interested in learning more about tequila while having fun at the same time. Keep up the great work! 🇲🇽🍹✨

"A Memorable First Trip to Mexico for My 40th Birthday! 🌴☀️"

8.0

This was our first time in Mexico and our first long-haul holiday together. As an independent travel advisor, I was also hoping to experience the Privilege package to help promote it to my clients, but unfortunately that wasn't meant to be this time. One thing we weren't aware of before travelling was the seaweed situation. It can be quite smelly first thing in the morning, although you do become nose-blind to it fairly quickly. There is a beautiful lagoon beach around a 15-minute walk away which is well worth visiting. We were advised the best times to go were around 9am and 4pm. Our room (Room 28) was in a fantastic location near the Mayan Lounge and pool, and within walking distance of the main lobby. The room was well-equipped with a king-size bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a lovely balcony and a spacious bathroom. I did miss having a bath, but the shower more than made up for it! I have multiple food allergies (gluten, dairy and onion), and honestly, if it wasn't for the incredible Captains Esther, Raphael and Carlos, along with the chefs, I think I would have struggled enormously. They prepared fresh meals for me throughout the holiday and went above and beyond to help. There was one issue with cross-contamination due to a miscommunication, but I genuinely believe this highlighted a training opportunity that will help future guests with allergies. A very special mention goes to Alberto at La Dolce Vita — he should be cloned! He was knowledgeable, attentive and looked after me brilliantly as we ate there most evenings. The hotel staff are truly what make this resort so special. Pilar is absolutely beautiful inside and out 🤍. The entertainment team — Viri, Susie, Gustavo, Moses and Victor — were incredible. Their energy was infectious and there was always something happening, from aqua fit and wine tasting to the foam party. You are genuinely entertained from morning until night. Margarita and Abel from the Dive It team were also fantastic when booking excursions and making sure we were looked after. Karen from TUI deserves a special mention too — if you're considering Holbox, book it, you won't regret it! I celebrated my 40th birthday during our stay and the team made it incredibly special. They sang Happy Birthday to me twice and even created a beautiful fruit cake for me. It was a lovely touch and something I'll never forget. There were a few things that could be improved: The main buffet restaurant wasn't open every evening. There wasn't an all-day snack bar available as advertised when we booked. After our massages, we were charged $60 for two facials despite initially being told it would be $20. My partner became unwell in the room, and when I contacted reception because I was worried, I was told there would be a charge for assistance. That was disappointing and left me feeling unsupported in the moment. On our final visit to La Dolce Vita, we unfortunately received poor service from David, which was disappointing after being so well looked after throughout the rest of our stay. It felt very different from our previous experiences there, particularly after the excellent care and attention Alberto had shown on all our previous visits. It wasn't enough to spoil our holiday, but it was a noticeable contrast and a disappointing way to end what had otherwise been a positive dining experience. These points may seem minor compared to the positives, but they are worth mentioning for future guests and for the hotel's continued improvement. Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and made some incredible memories. The staff are the heart and soul of this hotel, and they are the reason so many guests return year after year. One final tip... be careful wearing pineapple print clothing — you may attract the wrong kind of attention! 🍍😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (for the staff alone!)

"Beautiful Hotel, But the Beach Was a Disappointment"

4.0

The hotel itself is beautiful, with well-maintained facilities and a great atmosphere. You can tell that the staff works hard to keep everything in excellent condition, and the service was good throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the beach was a real disappointment. I understand that this is not entirely the hotel’s fault, and they are clearly doing everything they can to manage the situation, so I don’t blame them. However, the beach was a major reason for choosing this destination, and it simply did not meet my expectations. I would recommend visiting during a different time of the year, as the conditions may be much better. For me, unfortunately, this was not the experience I was hoping for.

"Los mejores empleados y la mejor experiencia"

10.0

I loved the attention of the staff, each one is a beautiful person who is ready to serve you with a smile. They give excellent recommendations. And you will enjoy your stay a lot. You will have fun with the games in the pool. Gaby and Alfredo are the best at the buffet. Ermilio in the restaurant recommends the most delicious food. Your dinner will be the most special thanks to him. Emmanuel in addition to receiving you with a Smile at the reception will tell you the magnificent places to visit. Pablo and Emmanuel, their partner, have taken the most beautiful photos they could, they immortalize every laugh and fun in the session making a unique memory. Ana will give you the best coffee in the cafeteria to say goodbye. A great stay that leaves me with unique memories and beautiful people we met, really a vacation caress.

"Swingers are entertaining to watch"

8.0

Hotel is great and staff and Entertainmnet Team give it there all. Restaurants, sadly, were sometimes closed and the Pizza stand shut a few days after arrived - gutted as was lovely. Quite a friendly bunch we met. Even when said there on 10 Yr Anniversary we got propositioned by some swingers. Wife had an issue and sought out the Tui Rep Karen in the Lobby, who was very informative and helpful. Couldn't sing her praises enough after that. Lovely hotel, sadly it might just have been a few over amourous people who made others uncomfortable. Absolutely not the hotel's fault and where things got unwanted, the stepped in.

"Some of the guests are very "friendly""

10.0

The hotel and staff were amazing. Only problems had whilst there were: *Pizza stand - closed for majority of the holiday - few days was open it was lovely. *Buffet - Not open every evening - which pushed everything onto the Al-a-carte, meaning couldnt eat necessarily when wanted:-(. Also the Al-a-carte restaurants werent open every night - which compounded the problem. *Swingers - Not a prude, each to their own, but saw people being mauled by guests without invitation. The Hotel staff stepped in when they saw it happening, and they can only do so much when customers misbehave. Its not a Swingers hotel, as such, but quite a few "open minded" people there when stayed. (If not on the receiving end, it was entertaining to watch;-)) *Seeweed - Not the hotel's fault, and they had a digger moving it for the duration, so really could not have done more. Real positives: *Met some lovely people. *Staff cant do enough for you. *Animation Team were infectious with their enthusiasm. *Aircon is on throughout the day in your room - which is rare. Restaurant favs *Italian - Salmon Risotto - Amazing *Steak house - 1st choice of main is amazing if medium rare. *Sports Bar - Spicy wings are lovely *Pizza station (if open) - anything as all lovely. *Lobby Bar was my favourite. Ask Jorge to do you a special cocktail. He's great at creating something you will love. PS Karen, the TUI Rep in the Reception is adorable. Whilst we didnt book any excursions on the trip, she was still more than helpful if had any questions. She is a real credit to the TUI brand name x.

"An Honest Review of Ocean Maya Royale"

8.0

My friend and I visited Ocean Maya Royale from May 29 to June 4, 2026. Overall, a well-maintained and clean resort. The food, starting from the buffet to the a-la-carte restaurants were beyond words. The staff on the resort were very warm and friendly starting from our Air Transat rep Gerardo, front desk staff Arturo, and the hard-working bell boys and door staff. A special shoutout to the bartenders at the pool, lobby bar and Sports Bar, and to the lovely wait staff at the buffet and other restaurants, including Mike's Coffee. Here is my detailed and honest review: Pros - Well-appointed rooms (ours was an Ocean View room-block 12 across from the pool). Bathrooms had liquid hand soap and lotion and the stand up shower had shampoo and liquid body wash. Spacious bathroom. Great quality toilet paper. Worth the upgrade from Garden View. Our room had a clothes steamer and lots of drawers. Housekeeping was consistent. Water bottles, beer and soft drinks were replenished daily - Beds were comfortable with good quality pillows - You can call reception for a golf cart ride to the lobby. We we were at the opposite end of the resort. Otherwise, the walk to the lobby is approx 7 to 10 mins from the beach -The food is next level good. We tried the buffet, Sport Bar, Japanese (reservations required), French and Mexican. We missed out on the Italian. Mike's Coffee is not to be missed. Our favourite spot to hang out, and their selection of drinks, desserts and a quick bite to eat is top notch - There are two pools - the happening one and the quiet one. The main pool has a swim up bar. - The lobby area is very impressive - nice and bright and very asthetic - Vast selection of alcohlic and non-alcoholic drinks - The main plaza square is compact but nice and most of the nightly entertainment is held there. Great place to hang out after dinner - Getting pool towels and returning them was seamless - Lots of loungers and palapas at the beach - Loved the concept of the electronic bracelets (synchronized as your room door lock) Cons - The beach was full of seaweed thanks to Mother Nature and the constant smell of it reminded me of a fish market. Our room was right in front of the beach and the stench was very off-putting. Some days were stronger than others. It was the worst compared to the other resorts in the area - Not enough lounger chairs at the busy pool - Nightly entertainment was meh except for the fire performance at the beach. - Pool side activities were meh as well - Limited outlets for charging phones in our room - The buffet at night was closed three times during our week stay. The other a-la-cartes were first come first serve only. It was a struggle getting into an a-la-carte on those days. We had to settle for the Sports Bar two nights which meant Westernized food which I can get back home. Ocean Maya Royale - You need re-think the buffet closures. It was easier getting a reservation at the Japanese place than the a-la-carte first come first serve eateries - On one of the days the night buffet was closed, they had only one staff member at the Sport Bar. The guy was truly overwhelmed with the crowds. He was both bartending and taking orders for food. Ocean Maya - you need to do better - Check in is at 3 pm. Our flight landed at Cancun Airport at 10 am. We reached the resort at 12.30 pm. We couldn't get a room until 2.30 pm. Although we had access to all the facilities, we were exhausted and just wanted to settle down prior. Ocean Maya Royale - you need to revisit this policy - Never saw the snack bar near the pools operational Tips - Bring USD/CDN for tipping the wait staff, housekeeping, bell boys, bartenders, etc. A small tip goes a long way - Bring your own bubba cups if you like to sipping on larger-sized drinks by the pool or beach - If you like peace and quiet, avoid the rooms near the pool as it can get quite loud. - Although the boutique at the resort is has everything you can imagine available, it is very overpriced - If you opt for an Ocean View room, note that the hotel can only provide you with a King size bed - not double beds - If you need any supplies, hire a taxi (negotiate) through the door man and visit the closet convenience store (OXXO) or gas station store. It still works out cheaper than buying at the resort store - Ask about the free bus tour through your Rep. It for about 6 hours. A mandatory visit to the jewelry store and Tequila store. If you fancy something at the jewelry store, you need to negotiate hard. No pressure to buy anything. The Tequila store has really good craft tequila but a bit pricey. After that, you are dropped off at 5th Avenue where you have free time for 2.5 hours. You can buy souvenirs, go to the mall (there is a Walmart) and/or just roam around the area. They drop you and pick you up in front of a beach club called Mamita's where you can lounge around as well. The beach there is pristine. - If you are an adventure seeker, do the Rio Secreto tour. You can search on Google. It is on the National Geographic's top 10 activities list. Once in a lifetime experience. Highly, highly recommended - About a 30-min walk from the resort, there is a lagoon with a mangrove forest. Not to miss. You have to walk through 2 resorts to reach the spot and so worth it - Don't buy food from the Cancun Airport. Grab sandwiches and desserts from Mike's Coffee and stuff them in a zip lock bag to enjoy at the airport instead - There are no water filling stations at the Cancun Airport. You have to buy water - Visit Puerto Morolos - beautiful beaches with no seaweed. A small and picturesque town - Make a lot of friends on the resort because after dinner, there is not much to do on site and gets very, very boring - If you are a smoker, don't buy at the resort - USD 21 for a pack at the resort. At the convenience store, it is between USD 5 to 7 - You don't need to convert your money into pesos. Even a small store accepts credit cards and/or USD/CDN - The French a-la-carte restaurant beside the buffet is a must-try Hope this helps! Have a great vacation!!

"Great staff -- food needs help"

8.0

Hotel was clean and comfortable.. staff was amazing and friendly. Food was lacking, I was expecting more flavors and choices. Repetitive food and bland. No beach -- covered in many feet of decaying seedweed. The smell was awful and caused headaches. I know this can happen, but it was deep and covered all of the beach making it unusable.
