Places that claim to include breakfast, but there's no breakfast. Just coffee and cake.

The only thing I liked was the beach, which is not even part of the hotel facilities.

The stay was disappointing overall. The property advertises that the price includes breakfast, but in reality they only serve very basic sweet snacks, which they describe as a “continental breakfast.” This is not clearly indicated on their Booking page, and it was by far the poorest continental breakfast I have experienced. The staff were rude and unhelpful. They criticized us for using a third-party booking platform and treated us as if we had done something wrong, which was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. The hotel itself is old, and the rooms are very noisy due to the outdated pipe and heating system. Cleaning standards were only modest, and the room facilities were insufficient. Even bottled water in the room was sold at an extra cost, and high-speed Wi-Fi required an additional payment. The swimming pool was extremely small and did not match the impression given by the pictures. The location is acceptable if you want an isolated place in nature, and it is close to the beach, but there is little social life nearby. Also, the beach is mainly a surfing beach, and swimming is not suitable for everyone because of the strong and dangerous currents. Overall, the place was very uncomfortable, especially due to the behavior of the reception staff, and it definitely did not feel worth the stay.

Location, location, location! Staff was friendly. The room was clean and grounds were attractive and well kept. The gardens\landscaping was really impressive.

Room was hot in the evening. If I recall correctly the website stated that rooms no A/C so that was expected but it said that rooms have ceiling fans but ours did not. "Breakfast included" was not as expected. If the booking.com said "continental breakfast" then I would have evaluated the price differently. There was nothing for folks on low carb diets. For a couple in that area breakfast costs around $40./day. Spa was closed/out of order. Pool was heated and nice but very busy with kids/families.

We arrived at 915 and there was no staff to check us in so we had to drive further down the street to their sister hotel to get our key .as I went to bed I saw a piece of chocolate on the floor . The next morning , in the light I found a dorito and a great amount of dust around the closet. They had obviously not vacuumed in quite awhile . I told the guy at the front desk. He said they’d get to it but they were very short staffed. Needless to say we came back to nothing having been cleaned. There was also mildew in the grout in the shower. No place to fill water bottles but for $5 you can buy a small bottle . No breakfast because they turned the breakfast room into a wine tasting room but then said it was closed because of Covid !

We stayed last night at The Pelican Inn and Suites. Our stay was delightful. The room was wonderful. But by far the best part was the staff. As we were preparing to leave we realized that we had lost our keys. Sam at the front desk immediately began helping us as well as the maintenance crew. One of the groundskeepers found our keys!! Thank you thank you ! If we are ever back in CA we will come here !!!!

There was no housekeeping during our stay for three nights. Room was left untouched. No bed made, no fresh towels, no refresh of coffee station in the room, and dirty overhead fan, despite our request at the front desk. Very disappointed for the rate they charged.
