Sunscape Dominicus La Romana - All Inclusive

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this hotel was so appalling I feel people need to be warned. This was supposed to be a 5-star resort – what a joke. The entire experience was awful from start to finish. First of all, there are NO adults-only areas, despite this being a key selling point when booking. Kids everywhere. Completely false advertising. We were “sunclub members” that means NOTHING. You don’t get any better service, food or drinks. Do not waste your money coming here let alone “upgrading”. The food was inedible. I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog. It made me sick for three days, and I ended up living off Lays crisps from the on-site shop for over a week – which were $8 a bag. The food is left completely uncovered, covered in flies, and lukewarm at best. Breakfast is absolute chaos; you spend more time wandering around trying to find a mug or a spoon than you do eating. And even then, all I could manage was a dry piece of toast. There is no lifts, all stairs. Was repeatedly seeing parents carrying babies up flights of stairs in their pushchairs. The overall service is horrendous, and to make matters worse, some staff made me feel extremely uncomfortable with inappropriate, pervy behaviour and not leaving me alone. At a so-called “luxury” hotel, this is completely unacceptable. Honestly, I’d have been better off staying in a hostel. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

This resort is amazing. The sea and location are beautiful, and there was no seaweed. We were Sunscape Club members and had a wonderful concierge who met us and offered rooms to choose from for an upgrade at a reasonable price. She also gave us a tour around the resort to show us the sights. The service at this resort is outstanding, and we really appreciate all the staff. The food is very good, and you can have lunch right on the beach, with grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables. The only downside : even though club members have dedicated beach area we still had to go to the beach very early to find an empty lounge chair. Usually, people reserve chairs by putting towels on them, leaving the beach, and coming back later. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time and were very happy with our vacation.

We just returned from 10 nights. Lovely resort and great value for everything you get there. Location is beautiful, resort is kept spotlessly clean. Must give a mention to Frankelin our concierge, literally nothing is too much trouble for him, and also to Evelyn our room maid who kept the room tip top daily. The staff are really friendly and the entertainment staff work very hard so you always have something to watch or get involved in if you want to. Food wise there is plenty of choice from buffet options to multiple a la carte all on site, our favourite was the Mexican restaurant, the food is exceptional and the manager goes out of his way to make you feel very welcome and you can see that has filtered down to his staff also. I should also mention that there is a small nightclub, a theatre and 24 hour coffee bar on site and multiple other facilities just too many to list. I would recommend this resort and we will be returning next year also.

Had a really great stay. Cool Scuba experiences - with great stuff. Lot's of entertainment on the beach and at the pool. Great for families.

Much better than the reviews would have you believe! We were in sunclub. Variety of food was great, the beach was stunning and staff were all attentive and helpful.

We stayed at Sunscape La Romana for two weeks at the end of January into February 2025. We met up with a group of friends, and all of us had an amazing time. The staff were incredibly friendly and worked very hard. We especially appreciated our buffet server, Julia, who took great care of us every morning and afternoon. We found that the food at this resort was fantastic, especially the a la carts. The ocean was beautiful, calm, clear, and perfect for snorkelling but getting into the water wasn’t enjoyable. I wish there were a better entry point, as many guests ended up with scrapes from the coral while trying to get in. The water slides were great fun for both the young and the young at heart. There was always something to do at this resort, plenty of entertainment, fishing, shopping, and even the option to get a massage. All in all, it was a large but beautiful resort, and we all had a great time.

For my first solo trip, this resort was perfect! Felt very safe and the staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and kept the atmosphere entertaining. I never felt alone or bored here and even made friends who went above and beyond to make my days fun. Manuel "Mani" the tennis pro gave me tennis lessons that have stuck with me and improved my game! He also teaches archery very well and now I have a cool video of me with a bow and arrow using the proper technique. I'm so glad I used part of my stay learning tennis skills from Mani! Was the perfect addition to my trip and I left with so much more knowledge of the game of tennis thanks to Mani! Hope to return again and show him my improvement.

Excellent location. Oustanding service. Food quality was good. Well msintaind property. Alba was an excellent butler.
