"I highly recommend! High level of service and excellent staff"

10.0

A wonderful hotel with excellent amenities, excellent staff, always smiling and ready to help. I enjoyed an incomparably excellent spa treatment thanks to the great therapist, Orbida, who offered a personalized approach. I am very grateful to Sruba Caribe and personally to Luis Bala for the recommendations for excellent excursions. I would like to highlight the children's animators – they are very active and lively; my daughter thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them throughout our vacation. One unpleasant incident with our room could have ruined our vacation, but the hotel's Concierge Department team, and Diosiris Rodriguez personally, quickly rectified the situation and made our vacation incredibly enjoyable. His professionalism, personalized approach to each client, and wealth of information from a local are truly commendable. Thank you very much for an unforgettable vacation. I highly recommend the hotel.

"Unwind Week"

10.0

Overall was a great experience,The hotel is clean inside and by the beach area. The food was good and plenty . The people are friendly and warm .Unfortunatly due to the Hurricane Melissa the beach was rough, but by the last two days of the vacation we were able to go in nice sandy beach. There are many restaurants,We liked Da Mario,Tierra,Blue Water Grill ,Tepparniaky table need to make reservations,Otherwise go to Windows for international good food.buffet style. There are more restaurants and Pizza Shop ,good pizza.,After 7pm gets real busy.Plenty of bars scattered around, day and night ,In the VIP lounge ,Edwardo is a good barista. Plenty of breakfast options also

"Terrible"

2.0

Terrible e perience union arrival. Rooms were not ready, we were hot and tired from a long day of travel. When we finally got our rooms we had to walk up 3 flight of stairs as there are no elevators at this resort. The resort is so large that we had to walk what felt like miles to get to the restaurants and lobby. Staff was not friendly. Room service came late at night while we were sleeping. There was water pouring from the ceiling in one of our rooms which cause my mom to slip and hurt her hip. Took 3 phone calls and 20 minutes for people to show up to fix it. The pool was filthy, pool bar molding, and we had to get out of the pool to get service from the pool bar as no one seemed interested in servicing the guests in the water. There are no sunclub benefits as it seemed to be a free for all. The sun club pool was no where near our sun club room. The sun club pool was also moldy and very closed off from everything else, which is nice for privacy, but you couldn't even see the ocean. They also would not allow us to order food and take it to sit by the pool with. The best part of our trip was the ocean view from our room, our excursion to Saona Island, and the Halloween show the resort put on. We will never return to SunScape Dominicus again.

"Lovely hotel and staff"

10.0

We arrived the day of the storm which lasted for 70% of our holiday. Even with the storm we had an amazing holiday, it was nice relaxing and the staff were accommodating. The room was spacious and as a family we had a lovely time despite the rain.

"🌴first time visiting Dominican Republic"

10.0

Our stay happened during Hurricane Melissa, but luckily our area was safe. There were only a few rainy days, and it did not ruin our vacation at all. This was my first visit to the Dominican Republic, and I was very touched by the care and kindness of the hotel staff. Special thanks to Diosiris Rodriguez from the Concierge Department. He was very kind, professional, and always ready to help. You can really feel that the people here care about the guests and want you to have the best stay possible. The hotel is very peaceful, with lots of animals around: peacocks, cats, small lizards, ducks, fish, turtles, and more. Every day there are fun activities and shows, even on rainy days, so there is always something to do. There is always security on the beach who watch the area and make sure everyone is safe. Sometimes they may stop swimming if the sea is rough, but it is only for your safety. The food is tasty and has many choices for different tastes. I do not speak Spanish, but everyone speaks good English, which was a big plus for me. 💛 I really enjoyed my time here and would love to come back next year. Thank you to all the team at Sunscape Dominicus La Romana for your great service and warm hospitality

"Caribbean sun"

8.0

Well what a fantastic hotel Numerous bars and restraints , more activities to keep you bust all day every day . The vibe is pure Hespanic with dancing and music everywhere . The upgrade to VIP is well worth the money . The only real downside is it is getting a bit tired and needs some love and attention from the owners , the staff are all super friendly and i would visit again

"Bad experience"

4.0

Overcrowded and disappointing stay . Very bad experience. Family room has glass shower wall which gives no privacy at all. Room service is poor - they don't refill the mini bar or even toilet paper unless you ask at the reception. The hotel is overcrowded, cafeterias are full and the pool is dirty because many guests throw trash there. Almost no one speaks English which makes communication very difficult. Definitely not worth the money.

"Good but not great"

6.0

Location: Great location, with a nice beach. The water is a lovely temperature and the sand is well maintained and golden. The grounds themselves are immaculate, lush green vegetation everywhere. Atmosphere: The atmosphere fell flat, mostly as we’re not a Spanish speaking couple and the resort is mostly Spanish speaking. The staff can be somewhat uninterested it feels, slow to serve and even sometimes greet. But there were some standouts that made a great effort to make you feel welcome. The pool is often dirty, floating bits, plasters and bird poo is not nice. It’s not filthy but it’s definitely not clean. The ‘upgraded’ room we were originally put in was sub par. While yes most rooms have been refurbed, the quality was poor with the glass screen in the shower being covered in smeared paint/plaster. Specs of paint on the floors and the walls. *It is worth noting* our original room was on the ground floor and the resort flooded on our first night with shin high water in the room. Sadly it took hours of waiting in a flooded room and multiple visits to reception to finally be moved to a new room. No urgency at all to resolve this with just 1 person manning the front desk while 2 looked on from the lobby. Monday to Friday the resort seems quiet, and relaxing and this is when you get the best out of it. Staff seem more Annette and in tune, the atmosphere is much better. The weekends however are a different story. We’re not sure if they’re DR locals or from cruise ships but the resort gets crowded very quickly. Often crowding around the swim up bar and are generally quite obnoxious, wearing clothes in the pool, providing their own speakers so you have 3/4 sources of music playing loud when you it should be a relaxing atmosphere gets ruined by drunken screaming and shouting. It’s really strange that the contrast between weekdays and weekends but it’s not a pleasant experience. The buffet food ranges from bad to average. Very rarely will you find a good selection and it’s quite often cold, the meat options are more bone than meat too. On the flip side the themed restaurants are a much better experience and the food options are far better. You will need to reserve at the weekends although we were told on day 1 that we won’t need reservations and you can just walk in. The same reservation policy will be needed for any water activities such as kayaking or pedal boats. (None of this was explained at check in, only a sales pitch for upgraded rooms and services with the Sunclub) Don’t leave yourself short of turning up for these things on the day and being turned away. A few other things to note, the opening times of restaurants and bars mean nothing. Something that could be marked as closed for the day might be open and vice versa. If you’re a sports fan, don’t expect the ‘sports bar’ to be open either - better have your phone or tablet handy to watch the game. All in all, it felt a lot of things fell just short of what you’d expect. Which is a massive shame as the resort has so much potential and Hyatt usually is a great brand with great value for money. We left feeling underwhelmed really, enough so to write a review which we never do. If it’s your first Caribbean trip, I’d recommend elsewhere. Shoutout Felix for the great cocktails and service!
