"Lovely, quiet retreat"

10.0

Lovely location. Quiet and relaxing but within an easy walk of amenities and a short bus ride into Funchal centre. Restaurant food and service were excellent. Room service generally good but lacked attention to detail.

"superb hotel overall, outstanding hospitality, lovely grounds"

10.0

A really lovely hotel, we had a fabulous week here. The hotel is extremely comfortable, full of character and set in wonderful gardens, but it is the staff make this hotel so special. All were courteous, thoughtful, helpful, attentive and professional - thank you so much everyone. Our room was spacious, with an extra large comfortable bed, sitting area with large windows overlooking the gardens, a sizeable marble bathroom, and a big entrance/storage/wardrobe area. It was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed reading and relaxing on our roomy balcony overlooking the quiet, lush gardens (a pool with turtles was entertaining). We loved exploring the other parts of the hotel with their varieties of public sitting areas and antiques. The pool area was inviting: never crowded, spotlessly clean, well maintained with attentive staff. The pool bar was friendly and we had a pre-dinner drink there every evening enjoying the view over Funchal. Food at lunchtime was good. We booked half board: buffet breakfast was extensive with hot and cold foods, lots of home cooked breads and pastries. Each of the tasty 4 courses was excellent in the evening, so good we never ventured to eat at the Manor House. We loved dining under chandeliers! The staff were so welcoming and attentive. 6 mins walk brings you to shops, a huge supermarket, and bus stops. We used the bookable courtesy bus downtown several times. Taxis are plentiful and not too expensive. No children whilst we were there. A charming, relaxing, peaceful, traditional-style hotel in botanical gardens - superb!

"Service and tranquility"

10.0

What a lovely place. Beautiful, excellent service throughout. Nice room which was a decent size. We chose a room with a balcony which was well used. Breakfast was very good; we ate once in the a la carte restaurant which was very good. More often than not we ate at the poolside bar which had good food at a reasonable price. The shuttle bus into to Funchal was useful - saved driving the hire car in to the centre. I would recommend this peaceful hotel to anyone looking for a quiet break.

"Couples Anniversary Stay"

10.0

The most notable experience with the Quinta de Bela Vista are how pleasant and courteous all the staff are, from arriving, meal times, using the facilities through to departure. Located in the St Martino area of Funchal puts you away from the crowds and offers some great views of the surrounding areas and the sea. Those not "brave" enough to walk the 2km into Funchal (it's a bit steep in places 😁), the hotel provides a welcome transport service down and back to the marina. The accommodation itself is well appointed and spacious; meals, whether at the bar or breakfast, with the odd drink or two, are delicious and plentiful. An evening stroll around the hotel gardens was appreciated following a good meal. The highlight of the trip - complementary champagne for our wedding anniversary ❤️. All in all, a great place to stay.

"Outdated, in need of TLC."

2.0

Upgraded room smelt of cigar smoke ! No great view. Lots of very uneven outside footpaths to access room. Queue for breakfast not ideal, some surely staff at breakfast. Swimming pool in need of a major upgrade, location too far out of town. Restaurants not brilliant, one poor meal in the Manor House, ok meal outside at the pool bar, but all from the same central kitchen. No free evening meal provided, as advertised in package. Reception staff helpful most of the time. Would definitely not return.

"Wonderful hotel"

10.0

Quinta da Bela Vista is a beautiful hotel, full of antiques and charm and in a pretty, peaceful location above Funchal. The bedrooms are well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious, and we also occasionally ate at both the pool bar, lunchtime and evening, and had dinner in the Manor on our last evening, all meals were great quality. The pool area is clean, quiet and well maintained. Only one very small negative - the wooden sun beds, topped with a relatively thin mattress, were not the most comfortable. We took advantage of the courtesy bus down into Funchal several times, where taxis are plentiful and fairly cheap for the return journey. The staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Quinta da Bela Vista to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat away from the bustle of Funchal … and the views over the city, particularly in the evening, were stunning!

"Wonderful welcoming hotel"

10.0

We have just returned from the Quinta da Bela Vista after a wonderful week. It wasn’t our first visit and we were given such a warm welcome on our return. The hotel is so beautiful and the room was immaculate with a balcony and a wonderful view. We were on half board and all the meals in the restaurant were delicious . We also enjoyed a meal at the Manor House which was amazing . As ever the biggest positive about the hotel is the wonderful staff. I couldn’t name everyone but the staff on reception were so helpful. Everyone in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner worked so hard and always had a welcoming smile. The same was true of everyone by the pool. What a lovely place for a drink or a snack looking over the hills. (I hope I haven’t overlooked anyone!)In short the Quinta is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings and is why we often return and I really hope to return in the future. Many thanks.

"Hospitality that is boundless"

10.0

When so many of the reviews are good it's difficult to pick out something that was special to you personally, but in common with many, many others, we would pick out the staff. We have never, ever experienced a level of hospitality that we had at Quinta da Bela Vista. Of course not everyone's needs are the same but the hotel tried and succeeded in meeting ours. This is a tranquil space. The Mansion house is impeccably furnished with the largest collection of British furniture outside Britain - according to a Telegraph review. It is immaculately clean. The breakfasts are amazing and generous. There is plenty to choose from for lunch at the pool. Half board didn't suit us for the evening meal (although very good value). We needed more choice and found it in the Manor restaurant and pool bar. We didn't try the shuttle to Funchal but the hotel arranged an excellent trip of the island by taxi. A must do. So - well done to everyone at the Quinta, especially Sonia, whose good humour and efficiency made our meals in the restaurant special.

"Exceptional"

10.0

I liked the fact the hotel was quiet and tucked out of the way from the hustle and bustle of central Funchal with good views and surrounding scenery. My room was very spacious and comfortable (superior double) and worth every penny. The staff were all very welcoming and most helpful with any requests such as booking taxis or giving advice about local activities and trips. My only slight criticism is that they had no USB charging points in the room but luckily I did bring two adapter plugs with me so was easily able to charge my various devices - plenty of spare sockets in the room.
