Fabulous hotel, wonderful staff and amazing food. A lovely peaceful location surrounded by greenery. We used Bolt most days (similar to uber) to take us to places around the island as we enjoy walking and although Funchal has a good bus network it starts later than we like to be out, and journeys take longer and we enjoy walking early before the heat gets too much

Beautiful calm setting in an amazing garden… staff were friendly and helpful… Restaurant food delicious. Couldn’t fault this hotel we had a fabulous stay… It’s not in the main town centre of Funchal but the hotel provide a free transfer bus and we also found the public bus system was cheap and frequent too… Would definitely return to Quinta de Bella Vista.

Lovely peaceful hotel overlooking Funchal with great views. Nice room with balcony overlooking the pool gardens and tennis court. Friendly and helpful staff. We only had breakfast and snacks from the pool bar as on B&B basis which were fine.

This is an outstanding place to stay. The hotel and facilities are of a high standard and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The pool is managed by a wonderful gentleman who ensures towels and umbrellas are out and positioned throughout the day. We stayed for breakfast only, which again was faultless, and we ate every evening at the pool bar. A special mention to Muhamed and Sofia Pereira ( apologies if spelt incorrectly ), who were so attentive and made us so welcome. The food was delicious. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Lovely hotel indeed with views overlooking Funchal. Staff are amazing and rooms lovely. Food was also excellent, especially at the Manor House. Pool bar is also great. Nice views and right near the pool. Shuttle bus to and from Funchal well used by us, and between €8-10 euros return in a taxi. Would recommend this hotel.

We are in our late 60s and have just returned from a week at this wonderful hotel. The Pros … If you want a holiday where high standards are important. Where curtsey, good manners and professionalism is in abundance. This is for you. We must first acknowledge the reception, front-line staff; all whom are faultless, but those whom we especially remember are :- Mario, Richardo, Leonardo, and the lovely Sofia, Martha and Paula. Our room was cleaned daily often with clean pillowcases through the week and when we say cleaned, it was properly cleaned. The dining staff were the best, even the head honchos Ilario and Euesbio worked tirelessly. The ever serious Avrlino, never stood still. And the super attentive waiters and waitresses Samuel, Dino, and Carina were just super. Mariana needs a promotion, and Sunita needs a name badge because she was truly amazing. Like Sunita, Magda was also a favourite of ours and popped up at all corners of the complex working so hard. The pool bar staff also need a shout out, familiar faces often helped supporting Sara and the human dynamo Mohamed, who moved at speed, constantly, plus others there whose names we just never collected. Why bother giving so many staff a mention ? Because they all work relentlessly, the ethos of this hotel is obviously to recruit hard keeping individuals who enjoy keeping this old fashioned hotel running smoothly and efficiently. The room we had was nicely decorated ( remember this is not a new building ) the whole place has tasteful appointed with antiques and works of art around the hallways, and in the reading rooms etc ( The Old Manor House which is a separate building is steeped in historic architecture and furniture and artefacts, the suites in this building I believe do not have air conditioning ). But the other 80+ rooms all do have air con as ours did which was super responsive and quiet. Breakfast is a beautiful laid out buffet style with an array of fruit and hot/cold options, plus pastries and cakes ! Lunch or dinner is an option by the pool which has an extensive menu. Exclusive dining is also offered in The Manor House, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Otherwise the evening meal is an (almost )fixed menu of 4 courses !! The chef who prepared our meals was Nelson - a top man , very tasty enjoyable meals, every one of them. Live pianoist, beautiful thick white linen table clothes, servers in starched white uniforms. Nothing is too much trouble and always with a smile. We felt spoilt. It’s a small hotel around 85 rooms surrounded by beautiful gardens and outdoor pool , with a small gym and sauna/ jacuzzi, and a tennis court. It’s less than 10 euros into the centre of town and the hotel help with tours etc. Stay here if you want to relax ; it’s quiet and very peaceful, it’s not really geared up for kids, in our opinion.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic! A ten out of ten on all counts! The highlight was the staff, all so helpful and polite. They made it a wonderful holiday

Nice, comfortable hotel. Excellent food and service. Very enjoyable. The courtesy bus to and from the town was much appreciated, as it’s a hard walk back. Buses cheap and frequent though.

A wonderful hotel, old school charm , amazing gardens, rooms buildings pool, and amenities The staff is incredible helpful and the rooms very nicely appointed. The gastronomical offerings are what one would expect from a hotel of this quality. Breakfast fulfills any expectations the restaurants are great and the pool bar is a jem!
