I found this location while looking for a hotel to stay at the night before going on a cruise. The reason why I picked it is because we were going on a Virgin Voyages cruise, which doesn’t board until later, so I wanted a hotel with some beach access for the morning before heading out to the port. The location is very close to the airport and was less than a 10 minute ride, really you just have to get out of the airport area and then around the corner and you are there. Verify the address in the Uber and verify with the driver because there are two Courtyards in San Juan, and this one is Isla Verde. The man checking us in at the front desk was friendly and helpful. It was kind of annoying because we paid extra for a king bed and by the time we checked in they gave them all away, but they did upgrade us to an Oceanview room, but two queen beds. We were only staying for one night so it was fine. We have gold member benefits so we were able to take advantage of the late checkout (which is great for arriving to the port at a later time for Virgin Voyages). He gave us a wristband that shows that we are staying at the hotel to use the amenities and perks such as the pool, towels, and beach/beach chairs and umbrellas. We were on a high up floor so we had a great view of the ocean and also a little bit of the airport runway. Because of the location proximity to the airport, you do hear planes taking off pretty constantly whether you are on the beach, on your balcony, or sleeping, so just be aware of that noise. The lobby is decently large with a café with some grab and go as well as some small foods, a lobby bar also with some small foods, a breakfast buffet restaurant, lots of seating, and also the casino. We tried to eat at the Sirena Oceanfront restaurant, but they would not honor our reservation that we made on open table, they said they were full even though we had a reservation and they said they could seat us in an hour and a half past our time, so that was very disappointing, even the manager did nothing. So we ended up walking along the beach to Pal Agua for dinner which was great. There is also a lounge type seating on the other half of the Sirena restaurant but it was only very small plates like chips and salsa type things, and nothing seafood or local. In the morning, the lounge area there is all open to sit which was nice to grab breakfast from the café Calao and bring it to eat outside by the ocean. They do have covered seating, as well as seating with umbrellas. Note that Puerto Rico is known for its tropical pop up storms! It briefly down poured for about 7 minutes and then passed. They also have a sign in the lobby warning you about all the tropical bugs that also live on the island and recommend you wear bug spray. This area out back is also where you access the beach and the pool. The beach has someone to set up chairs and umbrellas (included in the amenities) for you (9am-5pm I believe) and they even have little tables too. When we were there, it was very windy and the red flag was out so there was no swimming, and it was so choppy, but you could still lounge on the beach. The pool is decently large and there is a pool bar over there as well. This is also where the workout room is. It is adequate although it is a little dated. You do have to scan your room key to access the elevator as well as the workout room too so that was nice. Our room was a remodeled room, so it was updated and nice. The AC was cold, the bathroom was roomy, there was lots of storage like closet and lots of drawers and shelves. The TV did not have much for channels on it though. Our room had two bottles of water in the fridge (could have been a gold member perk). There were lots of outlets and plugs in the room which was great! Every outlet also had usb and usbc in the plug as well! The balcony has two chairs and a table, however the way they have it set up is that the exhaust from the AC from your neighboring room is on your balcony so it running/the fan of it is very loud on the balcony so its not relaxing unfortunately. You can watch some planes take off on the runway though if you are kind of facing that direction. The bed was very uncomfortable, it was very hard and very worn, which is weird for the rest of the room being refurbished. In the morning we got an egg salad toast from café calao (which was good but expensive) and hung out outside in the shade by the beach until it was time to leave for the cruise. We scheduled an Uber and the Uber was early at the hotel. The Uber to the port is quite quick if there is no traffic. We scheduled a lot of extra time, but we only needed a little extra time to get to the port (we were at the Pan American Pier). Overall this was a great and comfortable stay, even if just for one night. I am not sure there is a lot of restaurant variety really in that specific area, you might have to go a little farther, but the restaurants on property are quite expensive. Also the rate for this room is way more than I was looking to pay. I understand you are paying for the location and the beach amenity, so just go into it knowing that when looking at the price. There is also lots of taxes that get added on after when you look at your bill printout when checking out.

Being right by the beach, having access to free beach chairs and umbrellas if needed set up by hotel staff. Proximity to San Juan airpots and hassle free travel to/from airport.

We were very disappointed due to bedbug issue in our room with new rash - although we could not actually identify bedbug we are pretty certain as rash fitted breakfast-lunch-dinner pattern. Cleaning staff was very nice and they cleaned our room thoroughly after we reported but they also could not find bedbugs and issue persisted for one more day. It made our stay stressful and unpleasant.

For the price, the accommodations were very basic. Clean and adequate, but just boring. Plain walls and no decor. It just didn’t feel warm and welcoming
