Capitol Plaza Hotel Jefferson City

I checked in and went to my room and it smelled like urine. The front desk showed me 2 additional rooms, but they all smelled and looked to be broken into. I found another hotel. I asked for a refund and still haven’t received it

Room was very clean, but one light bulb was out. There are only two small lights in the room, no lamp on the desk, no microwave, no refrigerator. The sink would not drain and the toilet ran on and off all night. The AC didn't keep the room very cool and the water in the shower was lukewarm with the handle turned all the way to hot.

Within a 5-10 minute walk of the Capitol grounds and good restaurants.

We were not given the type of room that we reserved. There was a damp, dirty towel On the sofa bed when we opened it. I had to go to front desk to get linens for sofa bed. The bathroom floor was dirty with grime around the base of the toilet. There was significant water damage on the ceiling in the shower. When I turned the shower on, the water was brown. It eventually cleared, but I was NOT going to use that water. They offered breakfast, but not until 7, but I don’t think we would have eaten there after seeing the brown water from our shower faucet. Overall, I’m sure this hotel was nice in 1984, but from the looks of it, it has not been updated since.

Overall, I found the Capitol Plaza to be a solid, comfortable, and convenient stay that deserves more credit than it often gets. I would happily stay again.

Stayed one night for a business trip. Great place close to downtown area, shopping, and dining. Staff was incredible. Room was very spacious and clean.

I stayed at the Capital Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 while riding the nearby Katy Trail (bicycle). I was pleasantly surprised after reading some recent poor reviews. I wasn't expecting anything other than a good night's sleep after a hard day of bicycling. However the hotel staff was very courteous during check-in, the facility was well maintained, and my room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I chose Capital due to the ease of access from the Katy Trail and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The only thing that kept my rating from being a 5-star was that no breakfast was included. That is a relatively minor point but other hotels along Katy that I stayed on this trip have complimentary breakfast. Still a great stay for me!!

Its a beautiful hotel, yet neglected over the year. Not as clean as hoped for, but staff was beyond complementary.
