Best Western Plus Milwaukee West

Location, pleasantness of the staff, the breakfast, and the shuttle.

Minor thing: shower had dispensers on the wall and little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, but when going to use the dispensers, 2 were empty, so had to get water on bathroom floor.

Great location to ballpark

Would have liked queen beds. Could only get doubles due to needing two beds. Bathroom was beyond tiny. Had issues with television and air conditioning could not keep up with the heat.

Will have to try the restaurant next time

Three 60+ year old women and the elevator did not work for two days. Had to carry our luggage down the stairs. Not once were we asked if someone could assist us. Bartender on the first night was great by providing use with limes after he closed. Parking was terrible. Our friend ended up with a $30 parking ticket.

The Best Western Plus on National Ave. is in desperate need of renovations. The hotel is musty and dirty. The hotel room odor was nauseating. The beds were soft and very worn. Additionally, the room was not ready at check-in, and I was treated like I was asking for too much when I inquired about its availability.

There was no elevator and even though we were on the first floor there were still steps still to navigate with all our luggage. we were hoping to relax in the hot tub but it also did not work. no one seemed to be able to give directions on where to eat other than a really terrible pizza restaurant that we tried and found disgusting. we had no hot water in the room to shower. It was also down. My husband tripped on one of these while carrying a case up the step. If we had known about these things we would not have reserved a stay here. Don't think we will stay in a Best Western after this and I resent the fact that the clerk when I checked in atomatically signed me up for your rewards program without asking first. I don't want to be on your email list.

We, and 2 other guests arrived AFTER checking and rooms weren’t ready. Had to wait in lobby for 40min with a toddler and wasn’t offered compensation. Room was musty with damp floors. No milk available at breakfast for cereal, no ice in ice machine. Restaurant had 2 staff working and couldn’t manage patrons in restaurant.

Although the property was older it was well kept. It was so close to the ballpark we could have walked but they had an awesome shuttle with a great driver. We felt very safe and a Catholic Church was close by for us to attend Mass on Sunday. They also had a great little bar with good food downstairs and breakfast was great.

I don't typically review a bad hotel, just move on with my life, lesson learned, never go there again, however; this place is the exception. People deserve to know. Let me start by saying I had a hip replaced and have been enjoying things that I had been missing so badly! One of those was going to Brewers games so I was beyond thrilled to be going to an extra special 25th anniversary celebration of the stadium with former players in attendance for a variety of events. It was a special day, and the Brewers organization held up their end of the deal. Back to the hotel to have some well-deserved rest and relaxation, right? We arrive at the hotel and are 2nd in line for check in. From the start you could see there was an issue with the guest ahead of us, whom I will say was an absolute saint!! She was patient with the desk clerk, I did not catch exactly what was going on, it was none of my business. I did however hear the clerk tell the guest the "manager wouldn't do anything and she could feel free to contact the 800#" When they finally resolved the issue, I said to the other guest I was sorry she had issues and hoped her day improved. You know, just being kind. The clerk immediately advised me that the fault was the guests. I felt that was inappropriate but carried on and got checked in. We entered our room which smelled very strongly of cigarettes and must. I was still optimistic and wanted to make the best of it, so we unpacked and of course, checked the bedding. It appeared clean but was very worn and torn. The bathroom was very dingy and had mildew in the grout. I am determined to power on and make the best of it, but there was no way the pool and hot tub were even an option at this point. I'm not testing those waters... We head down to the lounge for a drink and some food. This was clearly also going to be a disaster you could see the frustration on the other guests faces as we entered. Spoke with a couple and they advised they were waiting for 15-20 minutes for drinks, so they were leaving. There's more I could add but I don't think I need to pile on. This was more the fault of only having one person doing the bartending, the serving, the bussing and back bar jobs. She was just overwhelmed yet pleasant. After all of this, what should have been an evening we got started enjoying around 7:30 (at worst case scenario) is now nearly 9pm and our evening was ruined. We ordered pizza delivered to the room, (which tool 90 minutes) and had a drink in a smelly, sad room. I don't want to this to happen to anyone else! We had an evening stolen from us, and all to the tune of $300.00
