Derby Midland Hotel, BW Signature Collection

Room was a bit dark and unexceptional. Noisy from the street during the night.

Our room was dirty: the curtain had a big, brown stain, the lampshades were really dirty, the net curtain was torn, the wallpaper was scuffed & marked and the carpet was marked. The bed was comfy & clean, however.

I selected this hotel as it was convenient for Derby station and it could not be much closer! I stayed in a standard double room which was satisfactory for a short stay. I also enjoyed the buffet breakfast – there was not a vast selection of items but it was all quite tasty. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the city centre so the surrounding area is not too noisy. There were various functions at the hotel during the evening but they did not disturb my stay. But sadly, on my first night I was awoken by a loud constant sound which at first I took to be some heavy snoring in an adjacent room. I could not go back to sleep and about 0300 I went to the bathroom and the sound appeared to be mechanical noise coming from the ceiling area. I called the Night Porter who attended promptly but he could not trace the cause of the noise. He tried flushing the toilet then offered me a change of room. When he returned to help me move room the noise had stopped so I stayed put but my sleep had been ruined. I reported the matter to reception in the morning and was surprised not to be given at least a partial refund.

Location and convenience, bathroom & room cleanliness left something to be desired

After being out all aftetnoon my wife and i returned to the hotel sat down in the bar having a drink 15 minutes later (730pm ish) we were inundated with 40 ish leeds united football supporters , singing, swearing and generally making a nuisance. I Was also disapointed no member of staff tried to eject these non resident peopme. My wife being of asian birth also endured racial ans sexist remarks. I reported this to reception but heard nothing. No pice were called and I was completely disgusted with the Hallmark management .

Excellent location and good rates. Clean and it’s an old building but well maintained. Close to the mall and strain station.

Staff room servixe post evening was not upto mark. Something i asked was delivered next day after followup.

This hotel was dirty everywhere! The hallways, the stairs, the floors in the room were stained! Misrepresentation of the room booked. We booked a double and on arrival were told we have booked 3/4 of a double bed and to have a double bed we need to upgrade which meant charging us more money. Then website states there are car parking facilities but failed to mention charges were applicable! Just a horrible unfriendly hotel!
