"The view is the best part of the hotel"

4.0

We had friends visiting from England who have never been to Cork city, so we decided to stay here for one night. The location is close to the city with free parking to guests. The entrance is gorgeous with the garden and the view from the rooms was beautiful. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves did not hold up to our expectations. I was told we were given complimentary upgrades, which I didn’t ask on booking but made the rooms seem to be an even better value. When we walked in the door, however, there were stains on the carpet, a massive tear on one of the curtains and the phone in one of the rooms didn’t work at all. There was a thick layer of dust atop the mirror, bed headboard and wardrobe. It was evident it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I am allergic to dust, and another member of the party is asthmatic, and we both found it difficult to breathe after only being in the room a couple of minutes. I phoned reception from the phone that did work and asked to speak to a manager. I was hold for quite a while and then spoke with Alexandra. She was very apologetic and offered a room change for the first room and a proper clean of the second. She said she would phone me back right away and we waited almost ten minutes. It was after 3pm now and we were only here the one night. We decided to just go and were leaving a message in reception when Alexandra appeared. She apologised and said she was delayed coming up to us. I worked in hotels in the front desk for years and I understand interruptions come up, but ensuring your customers are happy must alway come first. One room was moved and they ensured it was clean before we went inside. To be fair to them the second room was much better. The second room did receive a proper clean as well. The beds were comfortable and the balcony was lovely with the fine weather we had, even though the railings were pealing, the outside tables were dusty and I almost sat on a dead wasp in one of the seats. The hot water taps got hot so quick and there was no clamp on the temperature. My friend almost burned herself. The showers were lovely and you can tell those were upgraded. It was quiet in the evening as well, being high up over the city. We paid for the rooms on arrival and while it was a great deal, I would not stay here again. We did not have breakfast included in our package and we didn’t eat there so I cannot review the restaurant. I appreciate Alexandra got the room cleaned and a better room, but for all that was wrong I feel the hotel could have done more. We were embarrassed that this was the experience we had in Cork city, especially for the friends visiting. They should be grateful we were not hotel inspectors. Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel.

"Great Visit"

10.0

The hotel was great. The service at front desk was impeccable as well as the restaurant. We enjoyed our three night stay. We requested a king size mattress and ended up in the bridal suite! Amazing. Thank you for the hospitality. It was Grand! The hill was a little tough coming to and from, but it made us appreciate our space even more!

"Beautiful hotel and nice experience, bit of room for improvement"

8.0

This hotel was beautiful and my friend and I enjoyed our stay. There were two things that tainted the stay slightly. We booked the Taste the Address package, which included breakfast. During breakfast, my friend and I were getting some things from the continental breakfast selection and a manager approached us stating that our package 'didn't include breakfast.' My friend showed him the deal on the website which states that breakfast was included. He said he would go and check. He returned and said "Yes, breakfast is included". No apology for approaching us and it was a bit embarrassing in front of others. The rooms are beautiful, however the shower space is very narrow and makes it challenging to shower comfortably. The man on reception was really friendly and helpful and most of the staff and hotel itself give this the four stars. The woman who was only on her third day of work was wonderful at dinner. She was really friendly and accommodating.

"Lovely hotel location and food. poorly managed"

4.0

Stayed for two nights for a wedding, lovely clean room lovely location very central. Booked dinner for half 6 the Friday night , food was lovely. Upstairs to function room for after's of wedding, pints very flat been served. Breakfast in morning is an ok selection. Went for food again at half 4. I person in the bar he was meant to take orders, be barman and clear tables the bar was half full waited ages to get order in had to go up to him, not his fault. No one came to the room from house keeping check if we needed anything we did need toilet roll had to ask for some, the staff are lovely just badly managed paying too much money for these issues. Other members of the party had similar issues

"Issues with room"

4.0

We stayed recently with our young son. Negative : The control for the tv wasn't working when I went down to reception I was told by a manager " we know there is issues with the controls we are waiting on more : and left it at that didn't offer me any solution. My child wanted to watch his cartoons before bed but he couldn't and was very disappointed. When I explained this the next day to reception when I was checking out I was told they should have done more to help with my issue and that I would be contacted in a hour. I never received that call. Very disappointed in the level of service we received

"Never again"

2.0

The new Duty Manager, Kelvin is the best thing about this hotel. We booked for 3 nights in Jan - Thursday - Sunday. Thursday night we were unable to get to sleep due to a 12 month construction contract (effective from Spring 2025) taking place on the road outside - something that wasn’t mentioned anywhere when booking, despite both Cork County & the construction company involved publishing articles on their respective websites outlining the works - a quick google search was all it took to find this out. We called down to reception at 10pm, after a long day of travelling to ask how long the construction noise would continue into the night and was advised by the receptionist that it would be best to move rooms. The new keycard took over 15 minutes to arrive and once we’d found the new room ourselves, the keycard did not work. I went to Reception to have it activated which Kelvin did promptly. In the interim, the receptionist who had initially suggested we move rooms, appeared and informed me she was of the opinion I was privileged, spoiled and that she “didn’t give one sh*t about my problems”. When I asked for her name to make complaint regarding her language, she tore her name badge off its pin and threw it at me across the desk - Kateryna. She justified this behaviour by telling me she was having a panic attack. She continued in this threatening manner until I called the Garda. We were greeted in the new room by heavy bass playing from the hotel restaurant below, but I was so fed up at this point, I didn’t see the point in returning downstairs to ask that this be turned down. The music went off at 11.30pm but was back on again at 7.30am Friday morning. Same issue with the music on Friday night. But again, it was turned off at 11.30pm. Fast forward to Saturday night and the music continued past 1am. I went downstairs to ask the night porter where it was coming from. There appeared to be some sort of lock-in / staff social happening in the restaurant. He advised me that the music was from the restaurant and he would turn it off. At 2am the music could still be heard from our room on the first floor. I used my booking app to message the hotel and follow up on my conversation with the night porter an hour earlier. This message was ignored despite me having received prompt responses from using this messaging feature prior to our arrival. The restaurant eventually went quiet around 3am (the website states food service stops at 9.30pm and the bar closes at 11.30pm). Music back on at the original volume at 8am Sunday morning. Furniture was moved around every night and could be heard being scraped across floors. Kelvin did arrange a complimentary dinner in the hotel restaurant for us following the issues on Thursday night but in short, I would not stay here again, nor could I recommend it to anyone. I would be grateful if management would contact me to discuss a refund.

"Family Group"

10.0

We recently had a family dinner at The Address Hotel Cork and it was a really lovely experience. The food was excellent well cooked generous and enjoyed by everyone at the table. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, perfect for a family night out. A special mention to Megan who looked after us. We had a few very demanding children and the poor girl was run off her feet, but she handled everything with patience, professionalism, and a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend North to anyone looking for great food and genuinely good service in Cork. Robert

"Work Christmas Party"

10.0

We were attending our work Christmas Party in the Bell Room and there were over a hundred of us. It was our first time hosting our party there and we honestly had a fantastic night. The food was amazing, and the dinner and party setup with the music and drinks worked perfectly. The room felt warm and welcoming and the managers were so attentive throughout the service, which really made a difference when you’re looking after a big group. We will definitely be recommending it to friends and family and I’ll be pushing to have our party there again next year.

"Terrible experience - avoid"

2.0

We had a reservation in the North Bar at The Address in St Luke’s that was booked months in advance for our annual Christmas get-together - a group of 16 people. When booking over the phone, reception told me we could come in to view the setup to ensure there was enough space. I went up immediately and was shown a lovely snug area, which they said was typically used for larger bookings. It was perfect for our group, so I confirmed the booking and paid a €160 deposit. Fast forward to last night. When we arrived, instead of the snug, we were shown a long line of small tables pushed together beside a fire escape. We immediately noticed that three people, not part of our party, were already seated in the snug. I raised this with who I believe was the bar manager, but she was not helpful. She said that when she arrived, the tables were already set up like this and that it hadn’t been specified on the booking that we wanted the snug - despite this being explicitly discussed when booking. We asked if we could move into the snug once the other group finished, as it looked like they were nearly done (they left about 20 minutes later). Given the size of our group, the snug would have allowed us to actually enjoy the evening and speak to one another. A few minutes later she returned and said no - her boss had said it wasn’t mentioned in the booking, so it wasn’t possible. She then asked, “Is that okay?” - as if we had any real alternative. A very poor start to the evening. Once our full party arrived, we tried to make the best of it. The waiter took our drinks order - three cocktails, the rest beers and soft drinks - but we didn’t see those drinks for 30 minutes. Eventually, some people gave up, went to the bar, and were served immediately by the same bartender who was meant to be preparing our order. Water was also an issue: two jugs were placed on the table and never refilled. When the food arrived, it only made things worse. Portions were very small and the quality was poor. The pizza genuinely tasted like a frozen supermarket pizza thrown into the oven. Steak dishes arrived without sauce, which came about 10 minutes later - long after most people had already eaten their steak. One curry dish had no vegetables at all, just meat, sauce, and rice. The “truffle fries” were particularly bad - essentially plain fries with a light sprinkle of cheese. Overall, the food was dreadful. Out of 16 people, the vast majority were unhappy. We had hoped to stay on for drinks, but decided instead to ask for the bill as soon as everyone finished eating and went elsewhere to salvage the night. On the way out, reception asked about our experience and we were honest. We also overheard another group voicing similar complaints, which says a lot. This was a real disappointment. We’re local to the area and had been looking forward to trying The Address - a place we’ve walked past countless times. Unfortunately, our once-a-year Christmas get-together ended up being memorable for all the wrong reasons.
