Balmer Lawn

Food was excellent in the Lodge restaurant. Fantastic outdoor facilities (pool, zipwire, table tennis) and the indoor fusbol was a hit with younger visitors particularly.

The hotel is a little dated in places. They are clearly renovating and upgrading, which is great - lots of it really does feel like a luxury country house hotel but some things (dated decor in rooms, no aircon in room) lets them down on that. Like many places nowadays, it felt a bit under-staffed. There were queues to check in, dinner service was a bit slow, etc.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean & tidy facilities.

We stayed during the heatwave and the room was very hot - not much to be done about it but perhaps fans might be handy in the room.

It’s position in the new forest

Wellness centre not part of the Spa, would cost £30 extra. I paid for a bottle of red wine to be in our room on arrival, it was not. When I reported it at the front desk I was given the wine and glasses but with no apology 🥺

We went for a tea party for my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary; and we stayed over. I liked the outdoor pool and I liked it at the edge of the new forest.

Slight glitch over the booking, we booked a family suite and before we arrived we were told we just had the one room. I dont know how that happened, my husband sorted it as I am not always the most diplomatic. But we did get the 2 rooms as my daughter was with us.

Beautiful setting, friendly and professional staff. Food in restaurant was delicious. Room was adequate and was cleaned to a high standard as was all of the hotel. Lovely outside sitting area, very relaxing.

Breakfast and Food menu very good.

We were expecting a better spec room for the price paid. We were next to the cleaning cupboard, and the cupboard door was open when we arrived that made us feel like we had been given a basic room. This was a surprise break for my husband. We have passed the hotel many times and promised ourselves we would stay one day. The Reception staff were polite but unable to move us due to the hotel being full, which we completely understand. I was just disappointed as I felt I had paid a good price for a 1 night stay.

All staff were exceptional, welcoming and friendly. Everything about balmer lawn was amazing! The room, grounds, pools and restaurants were perfect!noth
