Castle Kona Bali Kai

The location was great, ocean view, very close to shops, farmers market and places to eat.

The location was great. The partial ocean views are across the road, which was a surprise but it was easy to get to the ocean. Lots of people walk and bike on the road so drivers are cautious. The room could have been a touch cleaner initially, but we settled in. The kitchen was furnished well so cooking was easy. They also offer use of the outdoor grills. This island is amazing, rent a car and enjoy!

We had a nice stay and had everything we needed. Everyone was really nice

It was quite but and Parking is good no fee at all. And the area is nice.. not far from downtown and airport.

We had a great view from our balcony with our own tidal pool turtle. It was very nice to have all the beach stuff in the room too

Older building, but had charm and was well updated.

I was charged an unforeseen cleaning fee for $167. She “accidentally “ charged my credit card $1670. Fortunately, I caught the mistake. I was willing to let it go until 4 different time staff and others entered my room without notice. I found this too coincidental

My comments is probably a bit biased as I did not stayed there after I booked the unit before my arrival. I only booked the place for a night (which was advertised at USD$125) and I thought that was the cheapest option I could find before leaving the big island. A major mistake I made was that I did not see the USD$135 cleaning fee and USD$25 destination fee that was excluded written in the booking policy which I missed.It was ironic that the total fee is much more than than the 1 night stay. Through Expedia, I request for waiver of the cleaning and destination fee but was declined by the property. Didn't like the idea of paying additional (as I could have easily booked a good hotel with the same cost) I ended up getting another place to stay instead which is still cheaper than the USD$160 that they are going to charge me. I can only request that Expedia and the property list both the cleaning fee and destination fee (what is destination fee anyway) to be included at the front and not at booking policy. That should be the real cost for comparison.

We were very excited to have this place for the night. We requested a king and received a queen. (Disclaimer the is just a request and may not be filled) We were charged a cleaning and destination fee of 109$. And the room was very dirty for such a large fee for one night. There was dirt everywhere, dusty, fridge was not clean. (We did receive a discounted fee as they tried to charge us 193$ cleaning fee which was almost the price of the room. The common area had lots of people hanging out that you would not want to be around at night alone. The beds and pillows were super uncomfortable. The staff was wonderful and that is what made the stay worth it. We will not be returning. I also will not book with hotels.com again they were not transparent.

Loved the location, right on the ocean. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Could of used an air conditioner for during the middle of the day. But overall is was really nice.
