Best Western Plus Des Moines West Inn & Suites

This is the 2nd BW I am staying at this month.. the other was at Monticello MN. That will be reviewed too.. but this is abt the Clive BW only. Best Western plus .. they were sort of updated with new carpet and some new furniture in the lobby. But that is it! Checking in.. two men with one sitting and coaching (to put in kindly) what to do and barking what to do to the.. e.g ID. And the guy sitting told us all the rules and possible fines with our dog (dog was not doing anything or making noise). We asked how we can not hv the dog w us at breakfast (i.e. in the room) but also cannot leave the dog in the room. He says he did not make the rule :-) Was not impressed with the facilities at the BW Monticello but the one and only staff was matter of fact in a helpful way. Conclusion... stay at Home2 by Hilton or anywhere else for equivalent money. The rooms smelled musty at both. I would say BW Plus has no Plus for me... from just physical facilities stand point.

this facility meets all our needs when traveling cross country and is an excellent Best Western. If you have any problem just tell the desk clerk and it will be addressed

It's clear they have put some makeup on the hotel to make it appear it's more up to date/new - it's not. While the exterior and entry seem upgraded everything else is behind the curtain. Old, outdated, very dirty elevator....you can see clearly what was behind the facelift. Rooms are outdated and damp. Check-in was an issue because they could not find my rewards number. They app might have helped if it were easier to find what you're looking for. Even the front desk could not navigate - definitely the programming was done in a silo at corporate wi/o any customer feedback. Unless your in a pinch or in for a business one night stay I would avoid. There are much better discount hotels these days. My guess is this is privately owned and they are going as cheap as they can.

The owner of this Best Western and his staff have done an excellent job maintaining and providing a clean property and friendly service. The rooms are great and the breakfast is good. 5+ start for a well job done and an enjoyable stay. I would stay here again.
