"Great for families but otherwise avoid"

6.0

Huge site set on a hill which is not made clear so anyone with health issues would struggle in the heat as there are no covered walkways or buggys available to use to get around. Thankfully it was only 10 mins walk from reception to the village where you can find a few restaurants and bars - also can hire sunloungers. We had to do this on many occasions to get away from the constantly screaming babies and toddlers. The hotel is set up for families but there are no areas at the pools or main buffet restaurant that are adult only, which is ridiculous as there is plenty of space to do so - there is nowhere you can find to go that is peaceful within the complex. If you want to swim in the indoor pool without children, you are expected to pay extra! The entertainment on our first night started at 9.30 and was a very loud pantomime for children!! Quality of entertainment was no more than average. Thank goodness the booze was free! They claim to be eco-friendly yet change your towels every day whether you want them to or not which is a lot of towels per day - 1000 or more? Room cleaners came in every day even though we had the do not disturb sign on. The apartment could definitely have been cleaner on arrival and there were ants all over the bathroom. I ended up sleeping on the sofa as apparently no twin bed rooms were available and I didn't want to share a bed with my friend. Apparently they can't ever guarantee a twin - mind-blowing on such a huge site!! Staff really weren't that bothered that we were very unhappy about this. Wasps everywhere with nothing in place to deter them. Holiday was very different from what we expected - won't be going back there. Punta Prima itself and Mahon were nice though.

"A perfect break"

10.0

After a tough year as a family we wanted a break where we could relax and just take a breather. The Prestige Suites were fabulous- spacious, comfortable, clean and so quiet. The rooms were cleaned each day if you wanted and any queries were dealt with very quickly. The food was wonderful. There was a huge choice every evening and the restaurant staff were always friendly and helpful. Children were welcomed. Breakfasts too were delicious and set us up for the day. The pools were perfect and the pool bar also served snacks if you wanted to purchase any lunch on site. The location is so easy to reach from Mahón airport and it’s simple to arrange transfers. The whole resort felt very safe and it was a beautiful area. I will definitely be back!

"Outstanding stay"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at the Insotel Punta Prima resort. I went with my son and his family. My 2 grandchildren aged 4 and 18 mths, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The facilities were amazing, the splash pools were brilliant for the little ones and the main pools equally as good for the adults! The whole complex was well thought out and plenty of space. We stayed in August the peak holiday time, but we didn’t have any issues with any overcrowding, there were always plenty of sun-beds available around the pool, at any time of the day. The restaurants were outstanding from the choice of food, the quality and service. I hope to return again!

"Not good, avoid"

2.0

At point of booking I pre-paid for champagne and fruit bowls to be in the room on arrival, neither were. Called reception (after much trying as phone in room was faulty) who didn’t seem to understand the issue. Champagne turned up 3 hours later, fruit bowls never came. No cot in room on arrival, it took them 5 HOURS to get a cot to our room so our 2 year old, who’d been up since 4am, could finally go to sleep. I had to walk to reception twice to complain (as phone didn’t work). Reception was 15minute round trip each time as complex is vast and our room (7008) was literally the furthest away. Reception staff had no urgency and were bordering on rude. Each day they replaced our bath and pool towels but always one short. Even just small things like taking away soap in bathroom and not replacing it, it’s meant to be 5-star. Food is awful (3 or 4 out of 10), flies all over the food, most of it was bland and tasteless at best. No surprise as they cook it on such quantity, the main buffet restaurant had upwards of 1,000 people on some nights. My 2 & 3 year old boys wouldn’t even eat the chips, which says a lot. They serve wine, beer and soft drinks in buffet restaurant. I ordered a bottle of red wine one night and the bottle we got was opened and half empty. Couldn’t book any of the other restaurants as the app used to book wasn’t working the entire week. Cocktails are disgusting, pre-made syrup that they add alcohol to. Paid extra for room with roof terrace and sea view, instead got a view of the pool, air con and solar panel units of adjacent building and a waste area (see images). “Jacuzzi” is actually just an empty bath on the terrace you need to fill up yourself, presumably too much trouble for the hotel to treat and maintain an actual jacuzzi. Cannot emphasise enough how miserable and rude the staff were. There were a couple of exceptions but it really does stand out. You feel such an annoyance to them. I was literally yelled at twice, once for asking for a tea bag at the pool bar and second for asking what meats were cooking on the grill in the restaurant one evening. Would have appreciated when checking in if reception would have told us just how much uphill it was to reach our room. Our room was literally at the hughest point, there were none beyond us. We had 3 large suitcases, 4 rucksacks, buggy and a 2 & 3 year old. It was 29 degrees the day we arrived. They must have known how much of a struggle it would have been. Images attached of the two inclines we walked for point of reference. This is a real consideration if you’re pushing a buggy around, disabled or elderly. Difficult to get drinks to the room. Only one bar open in evening. No room service. Other than the beer (Estrella) the wine and spirits are very cheap and nasty. We ended up buying wine from nearby shop by the third day and did that til the end. Really inconvenient restaurant hours. Breakfast didn’t open till 08:30 and dinner not until 18:30. That was not great for us as our little ones usually are awake by 6am and asleep by 7pm. We tried to keep them up later but dinner was a struggle most days. Ended up eating out at some of the beach bars a few times instead but you feel that’s a waste given this is an all inclusive hotel. Beach is supposedly 300 metres away, it was 15 minutes from our room. Again our room (7008) was the furthest away, so everyone will be closer. Both children came home with hand, foot and mouth. Only after the holiday have we noticed how many other reviews say the same thing. Pools whilst good are on the dirty side so assume it’s from that. I honestly could go on. It wasn’t a good holiday, my wife and I really didn’t enjoy it and only saw out the full 7 days for the kids. I feel really disappointed we wasted our one week away this year at this hotel. Have been totally put off from doing another Mediterranean holiday ever again. At best this is a very average 3-star hotel, which if it had been advertised as such, we would not have booked. The only good things were the variety of pools for the kids and the local beach. DO NOT BOOK! Really don’t.

"Not worthy of the 5 Stars!"

8.0

We stayed in a one bed apartment, the room was very clean, the bedroom had two beds pushed together to make a large double; two sofas in the sitting area made another two single beds; bathroom was larger than expected & balcony had a table and four chairs The hotel complex was huge; we stayed at the ‘south’ pool all week; there were lots of families there including children of all ages - including teens (we were there 14-21 Sept) There were some activities during the day and the entertainment team were very enthusiastic The ‘north’ pool area was quite a hike up the hill, so we didn’t head that way; only once to have a look and there seemed to be plenty of sun beds but little shade Apartments are spread out and signed really well - numbered from 1000 at the top of the hill to the 5000 at the bottom Found all of the staff really pleasant: even when under pressure in the restaurants which were pretty much always full We ate at Xoroi one evening and the food was very good; definitely better than that I heard about the Italian (from another couple) Pool bar - carbonated drinks are on tap to help yourselves and yes, there are loads of wasps - didn’t cause too many issues as they seemed to have been pretty high on sugar but not a nice experience! There is also a coffee machine, it was drinkable but you can get all drinks from the bar itself Main restaurant - the food was hit and miss. Our first few days we found the food to be cold. It seems that everything is cooked and put out before anyone gets to the tables; the food is kept warm with the overhead heat lamps. One of two days we managed to get some hot food There is always a meat and fish being cooked on the grill but again, this is cooked and left Pasta; salad; cold meats; cheeses; salads; as well as different ‘hot’ dishes available for lunch and dinner; waiting staff run off their feet but still cheery, so well done! Check in was a tad slow but only due to number of people and check out was quick and easy Remember, have to pay tourist tax; pay for the safe and if you want pool towels, I think they were €20 each deposit We were lucky with the weather which helped Personally this was not the right hotel choice for me, and was disappointed with the food but a lot of people said how much they enjoyed it and things most definitely for families rather than couples

"The best family holiday"

10.0

Just an essay review to reassure people 😂 Arrived home on friday.. we went as a group of 7 (3 children 7yrs, 5yrs & 2yrs) we had a great time. I went with an open mind due to alot of negative reviews and I have to say I didn't agree with any of them. The hotel/complex itself is set on beautiful well maintained grounds it's so picturesque and well maintained. The reception area is lovely and in my opinion gives the feel of a 5* hotel. Check-in was easy and not long like others have complained of...there is a lot of walking and it is hilly but not terrible was a bit of hard work with 7 cases and 3 very excited children getting to the room but nothing that took away from the holiday! We arrived early-ish around 11.30 and our 2 bedroom apartment was ready...the other room was ready about an hour later so again not bad at all!! The rooms were lovely and clean could smell the products as soon as you walked through the door which I loved! The rooms were also cleaned daily and promptly. I've never been to a apartment with so much storage space it was amazing! The pram had it's very own cupboard so it wasn't in the way! The kitchenette was hidden behind a cupboard which made the room look far neater! The telly in the lounge area had netflix. I slept on the sofa bed as my husband slept in the main bedroom with our 2 year old and my 2 boys slept in the other room...I mainly did this as I'm always up early and wanted to be able to get up and turn a light on (netflix of course 😂) and i didn't like the thought of the boys being too far away! Especially after a recent review of someone entering their room at night...(Which didn't happen for us thank god!) The pools were amazing! My children had the best time along with my husband and dad 😂 the slides where a personal highlight for them! The bottom pool was lovely but much busier and the top pool was much quieter we used them all...very pretty at the top pool! Perfect for a family picture especially in the evening! We never had an issue with sunbeds. My only complaint would be at one of the pools it would be nice to have some music. My mum and I had a facial which was so lovely and my daughter had a child's manicure. The ladies were so lovely there. The shop onsite was great. There's a free launderette which came in very handy at times. You do need to pop to the shop first tho for some capsules. I used the gym a few times...did the trick...go straight away at 8am as it does get busy in the morning. I would say I'd like it to open earlier. The food was absolutely fine I don't understand what people were complaining about it was like any other all inclusive Spanish hotel...I'm very fussy as are my children and we were fine! Breakfast was a winner pancakes and a Nutella type chocolate sauce from a pump the children and myself loved them. We ate at the Italian restaurant one of the evenings the setting was lovely...my only complaint would be is they seemed to be rushing you...we had our starters about 2 mins before they brought out the mains...we told them we weren't ready and they were fine from then on. The entertainment was amazing...such a massive entertainment team and all so talented most of them were professional dancers...only had one outside act come in and that was abba which was also great! My little girl enjoyed the mini disco. The beach front was a few minutes walk and so pretty..there was a pharmacy and a few supermarkets. Also a few market stalls and braid stalls most days. We went for a few cocktails which were lovely. We went on the ting ting train just as a round trip from the hotel front which was lovely just to get out and see the area. We also went to mahon on the bus. When you get off the bus follow the signs to the port that's where the shops are...there's a few nice shops but it's not massive. We got a taxi back which cost €15. We had a great time and would definitely look at rebooking in the future! The weather was lovely much hotter than expected. My only little complaint would be the toilets are very far away from the restaurants which when you have 3 children that All decide they need a wee at different times can be a bit exhausting 😂 But definitely don't listen to the negative reviews the hotel is clean in a beautiful location and the food and drink options are great. It's definitely a hotel geared towards families 🌞 Have the best time all we did!!

"5 star buildings ans location. Not a 5 star hotel"

6.0

Actual hotel is lovely, rooms are fantastic. But the food service is a free for all, most of its like warm at best. For a 5* hotel dress code in the restaurant is sorely needed. Only went to the bar once because that's a free for all. Yes there are people walking around taking drink orders but you're going to wait 40 minutes so you just end up joining the queue. Says you can eat at the 4 restaurants but in reality we could not get a booking for one and yet observing them they were half empty. Pool again no standards, people blasting their own mini speakers. Overall quite disappointing for a 5 star. It seems they are understaffed particularly in public facing areas and those who are staffing have just given up. Also watch the re cycled wine as some bottles come with different colours. There are some great restaurants on the beach which we spent most of our time in thr evenings eating at to escape the chaos. Casa Fermin (not actually vermin) does amazing seafood and sushi

"Not a place for a quiet holiday"

10.0

Lovely hotel clean tidy friendly atmosphere and staff, if you have problems with walking you may find it difficult at times due to the slopes and steps, This is a family holiday with children in mind, lots of things to keep them amused, this in my opinion is not for a quiet sitting by the pool reading holiday, (like I wanted) lots of young screaming children and a few groups of people with music, drink and little thought for others, to be fair having a good time,

"Poor food quality."

6.0

We visited last week after a very last minute booking, the hotel grounds, entertainment for kids (especially the disco) was great. However, the food was awful. We travel lots, have been to many all inclusive’s all over the world but this has to be the worst in terms of food. The choice although plentiful lacked quality and taste. The food was out for long periods and covered in flies, I also saw raw meat at the lunch time buffet especially burgers. We would not return to this hotel.

"Not 5 star!!"

6.0

Facilities: I would say the many pools and facilities deserve the 5 stars rating. Lovely grounds, nice views, very quiet main street. Food: The main restaurant is average, dishes often cold. The speciality, bookable restaurants were very good. Be prepared to book immediately on arrival or you wont get in. Entertainment: The little ones loved the kids entertainment, but it was very busy & unbearably hot. There was just one outdoor bar with very little seating. More bars & outdoor venues for evenings definitely needed. Accommodation: Definitely not 5 star, rooms were dated, not sparkling clean, musty and damp, even my unworn clothes had to be washed. The kitchen is in a cupboard!
