The Marx Hotel

I highly recommend staying here! Emily made our trip to Cooperstown so much better! She went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable! By far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel a lot so I see a lot of them. What separates this hotel from all the others? Emily. Thank you Emily for help making our trip to Cooperstown memorable. We won't forget you and the amazing hospitality you showed to me and my kids. If you need a place to stay, this is the best. Their customer service is second to none!!!

We recently stayed at this hotel and were extremely disappointed. The property is severely outdated and clearly neglected—it’s evident that no meaningful investment or upkeep has been made in a long time. Our room smelled terrible the entire stay. The carpet was extremely old, stained, and damaged. One employee even admitted that it had never been replaced. The bathroom was just as bad. Mold was visible in the shower and under the peeling wallpaper. It was unsanitary and unacceptable. There was a couch in the room that was covered in stains and holes. The pullout bed in the couch was in terrible condition—held together with some kind of wire or rubber string, and completely unusable. I couldn’t sleep on it at all. When we asked for a better sleeping option, they gave us a cot that was even worse. We requested something more supportive, and the “solution” was placing two pieces of wood under the mattress. Other issues included a poorly functioning mini fridge and a toilet that would run nonstop unless you jiggled the handle after every flush. All around, this was a deeply uncomfortable and frustrating experience. We tried to address several of these issues with the staff, but nothing was meaningfully resolved. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until it receives a full renovation and proper maintenance.

Dated, but staff was helpful & very nice! Hotel was clean..old place though. See that area is going through revitalization which is excellent, will be back!

The ceiling was peeling off and falling on the floor. The lampshade was torn and hanging. Ran out of toilet paper and tissues, had to get our own. Ran out of clean towels and was only given two clean ones even though we registered three guests. The toilet was filthy and overflowed after one flush, when management was told, they gave us a plunger to handle ourselves. The fire sprinklers were rotted and coming off the wall. Strange red streak on the wallpaper, not sure what it was from.

I had a nice stay visiting my son and looking at a home I am purchasing in Oneonta. The staff were extremely kind!

Came in from CA & they let my kids and I check in early while we we running on no sleep from flying over night!

This place has so much potential. The hotel is old, outdated, and gives haunted vibes. The bath tub and linens were clean, so we that made it doable. The wall paper is peeling, cottage cheese drywall on the ceiling is peeling, everything is dimly lit, and the air was musty upon arrival. Overall, its not the worst, but i cannot recommend it. (I'm baffled as to why this hotel is so outdated with all the business they get.)
