"A Gem of a Hotel, the Staff Made it a Stay to Remember!"

10.0

This was our first time at a smaller hotel on the island and we fell in love with the place and the people over the ten days we stayed there. From the minute we checked in we felt really looked after and welcome. Trey, Terry and Manny behind the bar are attentive and know their stuff when it comes to the cocktails. Rum tasting with Trey was great, he was knowledgeable and so much fun, we really enjoyed it. The food, buffet style breakfast with eggs cooked to your choice, a la carte lunch and dinner with a couple of days buffet style. Also a BBQ one night. The food was great, always something for everyone and the waiting staff so nice too. Shout out to Elsie (hope you've not left your glasses as home again lol) Sharons (more than 1) Ann, Doris, Raquel, Tia and more I didn't get the names of and all the chefs in the background, thank you, fab food. Hotel is about a half hour walk to Bridgetown and doesn't feel that long when you get going. Pebbles beach is at the back of the hotel and we spent a couple of days there, rent sun loungers and get a sandwich (roll) & chips from Beachy Keen. Great fresh cooked food. We did some turtle watching here as they pop up to get some air quite close to shore so you can get a quick glimpse of them. There's things to do, places to visit on your doorstep, The Barbados museum, George Washington House, the Garrison racetrack (seasonal meets so check before you go). If you want to go further then you can get the bus (the white one with the burgundy stripe down them) for 3.50 BDS for anywhere on the island. Great fun playing their music as you travel. Highlight of the stay really was the wonderful staff here, we will return as soon as we can, can't wait to see you all again.

"Sickening on so many levels"

2.0

We couldn’t stay even one night and lost $2400! We called Island Inn Before we booked (and paid) to make sure they could accommodate my celiac disease and were Promised twice the chef is sensitive to food allergies. It’s all inclusive so this was a huge selling point for my husband’s 75th birthday trip, because if I get glutened I’m sick for a week. Yes, I bring my whatever gf food I can but that’s obviously not enough. When we checked in after 36 hours traveling the reception said we only have a buffet so maybe I can eat a baked potato.. at this point I asked to speak to the chef and she said No, she’ll email him. We were showed our room that was so musty I wanted to open the window but with the lack of screens and the barbed wire 3 feet away we were nervous to. We were offered another room by the manager but obviously that doesn’t address my celiac needs. We were Lucky to book at the Radisson across the street. They were fantastic and totally accommodated my celiac disease. I went back, called, pleaded with Island Inn staff, who referred me to their sister property, Mango Inn, that they said handles refunds, and I was blocked every time by staff. Thank goodness for the Concierge, Akila, at the Radisson, who was so amazing, and professional. They took us in when we felt homeless. We didn’t get Back A Penny from the Island Inn, not even a phone call or an apology. They stink!!!

"Just wonderful!"

10.0

What can we say. 2nd visit to the Island Inn Hotel. Just wonderful! The amazing staff including the legend that is Elsie, Carol, Sharon, Angela, Doris ,Terry, Tre and the wonderful Ann and the rest of the team. Ms Brown is just so friendly and down to earth. Loves to mix with the guests and is very hands on. They all treat you like family when you return. The food this year was particularly wonderful. Love the fact the hotel is small and non corporate and every year we make more friends. We find the location perfect for us. We will be back!

"Island inn week break for us two"

10.0

Quality. Cosy , relaxed. From first arrival Sharon checked us in and gave us the info that we needed . We had a week at the hotel and are very experienced Barbados visitors ( over 10 years) visiting for 8 weeks a year . I absolutely love this small hotel as the staff are personal centred , remember your name , what you like to drink, and are so personable and polite. The ladies that run the kitchen are so lovely and it’s nice hearing them laughing and loving what they do together as a team. Nothing is too much and whilst there chef Karla cooked us our barracuda that we caught on a fishing trip. Hopeful one day to get married there as it’s my new favourite place 🥰, thank you island inn , you knock the spots off your sister hotels for me .

"Great people except for hotel staff"

6.0

Well situated hotel near Carlisle and pebbles beach. Food was ok although sparse at times. Breakfast was supposed to start with buffet at 7am But the staff would just send you away until 7.30, saying we are not ready. People of the island are so friendly although staff at this hotel were very abrupt , and reception staff would rather look at the floor that say hello.

"Island In - agreat place to holiday"

10.0

this has got to be one of the best boutique hotels in Barbados. The hotel has 24 rooms; our accommodation was a garden room with a balcony overlooking the garden and plunge pool. The room was large with a walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom. The staff are excellent, friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The food and drink are good, a la carte menu and service for lunch and evening meal. The option to use the two sister hotels increase your choice. Great Stay!

"Had a lovely holiday."

8.0

This was 4th time in Barbados but our first time staying at the Island Inn. We had a nice welcome. We booked a superior garden room, which we were pleased with. Room was large and spacious, with a large walk in wardrobe, which was really handy. Plenty of room for all our clothes and luggage. Very peaceful at night. Handy having a fridge in the room. Just a few niggles. Bathroom was bright but in need of an update . The bedrooms are quite dark, even in the day. We enjoyed our meals. Mixture of buffet and table service. Never went hungry, always something to choose from. Had the pack lunches a couple of times which were very good. Book them the night before. Cocktails were good and rum punches were strong , we found them better than the sister hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful. As it’s a small hotel you get to know most of them all after a few days. When we had a cloudy day we got a ZR bus towards Accra and walked back along the broad walk which was nice. We went to both sister hotels for lunch, Mango bay , Holetown and The Sands , Worthing. Perfect for us as we had a car for 9 days and were going there anyway. You need to book the day before. We visited the Graham Hall animal sanctuary which was fun and a lovely place to have walk. We drove over to Bottom bay a stunning beach on the Atlantic coast. One of the bar staff recommended us to go to the Nothing box a lovely cafe/restaurant/bar We popped in for a drink while on our travels, it’s on the Atlantic side, stunning views , and you can walk along the cliff tops. Lovely place. Went on to Bath beach, then Bathsheba. We also went back to Alleyens bay, Heywoods beach, Speightown, New to us this year was Thunder bay and a lovely quiet beach just past Hole Town, Colony club beach, Heron bay. We did Pebbles beach once and Carlisle bay a few times. (7 min walk) We always choose to sit near the first part of Carlisle bay you come to, before the sun beds start. Carlisle is a beautiful beach but it’s far too busy for us now. It’s heaving when there are lots of cruise ships in. If you are going to hire a car , best to do it over the weekend , as the roads are busy on week days, come the rush hour. Had a great holiday and thanks to all the staff at the island Inn. Hope to see you all again.

"Not What I Expected"

4.0

I can't understand the hype some travellers have about the Island Inn Hotel in Bridgetown. The place relies too much on it's historic location and features. Our room needed a thorough clean and lacked storage space. I've never had a clothes rail in the bathroom! The food was hit and miss, and not plentiful. Advertised as All Inclusive, but really it is Full Board with drinks. We found the staff surly. They seemed to interact with the regular travellers who were "cliquish". The entertainment was normally a loudspeaker in the corner, but the nights that we had "turns" were poor and somewhat embarrassing. We met quite a few other guests who agreed with our feelings, and their camaraderie made the holiday bearable. I must admit that the packed lunches from the hotel were good, and we made use of them a few times, and stayed on the local beach. The hotel has two sister hotels and we visited them both. What a difference in standards there! You would not believe that they were in the same Group. Maybe I missed something, but I could have bought a secondhand car for what I spent on this holiday! One regular guest said that the Hotel was like Marmite - and I don't like Marmite.

"A warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, so welcoming that makes us feel at home.t home"

10.0

Small hotel near Pebbles Beach with the early morning swimming horses. Friendly, fun loving staff. Food excellent, new chef really is working hard to cover modern & classic dishes, with lovely sauces can't get enough of them. Rooms have antique furniture, large comfortable beds and are kept very clean & "housekeeping" somehow managed to service our room while we were out. The cocktails created by the 3 barmen are very popular Terry, Tre and Shamanni keep us happy , every hour is a "Happy Hour" from 10am to 11pm. Must not forget Doris, Marlene, Sharon and others who wait on us with a smile. Loved it so much have already booked to return in November. Far better than 4* holidays we have stayed in.

"Second visit and not disappointed."

10.0

We visited last year, loved it so booked again. On day 2 of our recent stay we have booked again for next year. If you like marble and mirrors this is not the place for you, if you like small hotel, quaint, friendly staff, good food and drink you will love it. You will find lots of people go back and back again! To me that says a lot. We met a lot of lovely people. Only down side is that some gym equipment not working. Having said that in the time I have stayed I was only one using gym! 😀
