Banyan Tree Bintan

I stayed in villa 200 with my two grown up daughters. They had one of the two bedrooms which also came with its own shower, toilet, wardrobes/storage and outside bath. The doors to each part of the villa are from the pool terrace which also has access to a kitchen. Plenty of seating outside available. The infinity pool is a fantastic size and has a stunning view of the bay and beach. We could even watch monkeys in the trees overlooked by our pool - it is truly a remarkable vantage point. The restaurants, which we experienced multiple times, were all first class - Saffron for Thai, Treetops for Indonesian and The Cove with a more international menu. Breakfast was excellent and we also had food delivered to the villa. All staff provide an amazing level of service and even the maintenance people working around the grounds are happy to chat. The Spa is exceptional - we had 6 treatments between us over the 10 nights we stayed. The massages and whole experience was first class. There is an abundance of wildlife and plenty of routes to walk. We used the gym six times at the sister hotel not too far away. You can get a buggy there but we would walk and experience the wildlife on route two and from. We saw the first day’s turtle hatchings which was a joy. Our plan was to chill and catch up and our experience was perfect for that. All the staff are incredible and I can’t single anyone out. I’d need to list 30 plus people we had regular contact with during our stay. And as I highlighted above the whole spa team need recognising for their efforts. Thank you!

We are celebrate our birthday with Banyan Tree Resort… They doing a set up on one day before the birthday.. It’s surprised us and we feel so warm… Special thank you for the staffs who birthday set up for us… Lilik,Darwis,Wendy,Agung and Hery… Thanks for the set up!

I travelled with my teenage daughter and her 2 teenage friends and stayed in a 2 bed ocean view villa. The staff from beginning to end were amazing. Our driver who collected us from the ferry terminal - was very happy and fun - and we laughed about the rain ! Dave who checked us in upon arrival, was super friendly and very welcoming. The villa itself was very tired - for a claimed 5 star hotel - the wardrobe fittings and bedroom furniture could all do with an upgrade. The gutters around the pool could do with more stones. The bat droppings around the edges of the doorways could be cleaned more often. With the thatched roofing it’s difficult to avoid the bats nesting. We had dinner in the Thai restaurant- Saffron - for 2 nights in a row. The food is great and offer a lovely trolley of different types of rice. The waitress we had - Desy - did an amazing job and was so friendly and very kind. Fantastic service, making us all feel very welcome and at home !

We so enjoyed our stay. The Villas are clean and spacious with wonderful ocean views. The food is fabulous. The staff are so friendly an obliging. The house keeping staff were so attentive and friendly, they would clean the room multiple times a day - in particular Lilik and Daus were so good to us

Amazing and relaxing stay in a bit aging bayan tree resort, but service, view and experience were amazing. Restaurants are all spot on, but saffron and treetop are our favorite. Kasir our preferred buttler was very warm, and so nice to us, pro actively meeting our needs before we ask, it felt touching, amazing experience with the full massage, the most relaxing and pleasant massage ever, many thanks to Rini and Erma for their professional and very well executed massage. many many good surprises and stunning swimming pools. Everyone were smiling and appreciative and warm. Bird watching was marvelous! A real treat! Thanks to kasir and the whole team for their care and true hospitality! Well done!

Staying at Banyan Tree Bintan felt like stepping into a peaceful sanctuary away from daily life. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and calm smiles, which instantly set the tone for the entire stay.

Having stayed here five times since 2022, I know this property well and genuinely love what it offers, the setting, the villas, and the overall experience is hard to match near Singapore. However this stay was significantly disrupted by a recurring bat roosting issue on the balcony. Over two days the team attended four times, each time arriving with nets too short to reach the roof. The same inadequate equipment, the same ineffective approach, repeated four times with no one thinking to escalate or try something different. Basic problem-solving was absent at every level. When a supervisor finally visited after my request, rather than acknowledging the repeated failure, his initial response was to deflect indicating this was simply a nature occurrence. This was despite my repeated clarification over WhatsApp that the issue was not bats flying by, but multiple bats consistently roosting in the same spot, returning after every intervention and leaving droppings across the balcony floor. The deflection continued until I mentioned I would be reaching out directly to a senior member of management I had interacted with previously. Only at that point did the approach change entirely. The team returned and installed a simple moth ball deterrent in the roof. The entire fix took 15 minutes. The bats did not return after that even on the next day. A two-day recurring issue that disrupted a significant portion of my stay resolved in 15 minutes once management accountability entered the conversation. No returning guest on their fifth stay should need to name-drop senior management to receive a fix that was available from day one. The failure here was not isolated, it was systemic. Nobody owned the problem. Nobody escalated. Nobody thought to try a different approach. The instinct at every level was to apologize and repeat the same ineffective action rather than actually solve the problem. This property has genuine strengths and I have recommended it to friends in the past. But a service culture that requires guests to manage their own problem resolution is not acceptable at this price point.
