French Horn Hotel

Went today for Sunday Lunch. Unfortunately it rained all day so we didn’t get the full benefit of the beautiful surroundings, which, in the summer is superb. The food was pretty close to outstanding. Lobster Thermidor for both of us to start, Dover sole and halibut to follow. Everything was superbly cooked and served beautifully. It is however not cheap, but still worth every penny. Three courses including 1 vodka, 1 Gin tonic and 2 glasses of Sauvignon blanc, including VAT and service £200 but nigh on perfect food. The place itself is a little dated but some may say that is still the charm of the place and some things shouldn’t change. We wil be back, but well wait for better weather

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening with your significant other. Excellent wine and food that never disappoints. Amazing seafood and wine list recommendations. An absolute treat. Great service, great food, great location….just great! Highly recommended. Thanks Michael.

So the cottage itself is a bit shabby. Some of the floor tiles in the bathroom are cracked and loose, and while I appreciate this would not be a cheap repair, we couldn't help thinking even a pot of white paint to touch up the woodwork and a check to make sure things were working as they should (like the batteries in the air conditioning remote) would have made a difference. On the plus side the cottage was clean, and the bed was very comfy. The location is also lovely, sat on the banks of the river. The restaurant itself is across a fairly busy road, the food being of a very high standard £20-£40 per course. Wine starts at around £12 per glass, and again the location is beautiful. The staff were nice and they arranged a bouquet of flowers in our room at short notice, which was much appreciated.

Great setting. Hospitality friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend without reservations.

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than being spoilt by the food and team at the French Horn. There is something almost theatrical about the dining experience with each carefully choreographed element, from being seated at a lovely window overlooking the swirling river Thames, to the most genial maitre’d welcoming us to the establishment. As far as a Sunday lunch is concerned, this certainly knocks everyone else out of the ball park. Each course is presented beautifully and tastes exceptional. As luck would have it my father, who was celebrating his birthday, found another couple of gents doing the same. Lazy Sunday afternoons don’t get much better.

A traditional upmarket hotel. Quite old fashioned in the decor and feels rather grand of the last. Food is expensive but a pleasant enough hotel. Beautiful location not a lot around. Wouldn’t recommend for children.

A very comfortable old style Hotel with character and charm. Food excellent, staff charming and helpful. Too hot for me though in general areas.

Such a shame the owners are not investing in the rooms, we have stayed in better travelodges I'm afraid, fittings loose and furniture so tired. Breakfast was terrible compared to dinner, I emailed the owner but got no satisfaction or sense of concern, as I say a shame as we will not be returning to what was our favourite destination. Wow what a lovely old fashioned place. The food was excellent the atmosphere cozy and nice. I will definitely be going back. Beautiful to walk along the river in the morning too. It is s hotel and restaurant with a lovely open fire
