French Horn Hotel

We had a lovely room overlooking the river with its own patio so lots of air. Room is dated but it’s very clean and comfortable with a nice sitting area. We opted for breakfast in the bar as opposed to our room - which was nice enough, though after dinner the previous evening we weren’t really hungry! An excellent stay.

We must congratulate the French Horn on their Summer Menu. One doesn’t need the à la cart every time especially when unusual delights are available on the lunchtime set menu. We had the frog’s legs as a starter and if you have never had this and are curious this is the place ,don’t forget the slice of lemon ,the juice makes the dish. To follow I had the confit of duck put together with Choi and noodles and a very tasty sauce. My wife had the baby chicken with the tarragon sauce served in the silver service way which is one of the charms of the Horn. Don’t let them take the sauce boat away it’s so delicious.To complete the meal in the French theme was the the tart Tatin . To accompany the food a glass of the house champagne and a glass of the Givry just perfect .Coffee on the terrace with one of the most idyllic views of the weeping willows over the peaceful backwaters of the Thames what more could one want. My wife loves it. Traditional, friendly. Excellent dinner. breakfast 8 minutes on last day - meant short warm up for race at Henley.

We (four) arrived by Edwardian launch in our rowing blazers on a perfect sunny day for a lunch the day before Henley Royal Regatta Yes all very Merchant Ivory you’re right of course but all true Great drinks on the terrace n then a splendid faultless lunch inside Glorious

The service, the setting, the location, the food, all were nothing short of excellent. I was there on a business trip which looks like additional visits in the future. I will most definitely be booking this hotel again, can't recommend enough.

Lovely setting. Hotel bedrooms are a bit old fashioned but the service and attention from staff was second to none. Will definitely stay again.

lovely location and friendly staff drinks prices too high

From the moment I walked through the front door I was made to feel incredibly welcome and the staff went out of their way to ensure that our needs were fully catered for. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in one of the Riverside Cottages and the breakfast was excellent. We hope to come back one day.

This hotel needs new towels and sheets - both were awful - full of holes and shredded, as was the bathrobe. The balcony outside room 7 was littered with cigarette butts and cobwebs and needs a good wash and clean up. Disappointing as certainly not worth the price although the location was attractive.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are exceptionally attentive, creating a lovely experience.
